Great jacket, but it can be better

Outdoor Research has hit it out of the park again with the Ascendant Jacket, unfortunately, it has no pocket zippers or inside mesh skin pockets, both found on the Uberlayer Jacket. I didn't find out about this until receiving the jacket as the external pocket are not clearly show online, not is the inside of the jacket. It would be nice if there was always an inside photo of each jacket. I will still be using my Uberlayer for skiing due to the pocket problem and this makes me sad.

Best hoody I got in the quiver

Bottom line, this hoody is perfect throught the whole year. Lightweight, super breathable and warm. Using it for skiing, climbing, hiking, backpacking and casual around town. Looks good and perfect in the multi layer system.

Hello, wondering about packability of the Jacket. Does the Ascendant Hoody pack to to a comparable size as a down jacket? Does it pack into its own internal pocket or a stuff sack?

Hi Brent, It's not as compressible as a down jacket and does not pack into it's own internal pocket. The Ascendant Hoody would probably take about about 0.5 L or 0.6 L of space. It's a little more stout than the diameter of a 23 oz can, but takes up less space. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Does the Men's Ascendent hoody packable on one of it's pockets? What is the length of the back?

Hi Noel, Sorry for the belated response. The Men's Ascendent Hoody does not pack into one of it's pockets. The center back length starts at 28" for a size Small and goes up one inch every size up. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul
