Good pants for outer layer, definitely needs layering in fall weather

I have a couple pair of these pants, they are my go to for hiking. Im 5'11" 160lbs and wear a medium, fit is perfect. Great features without going overboard.

Comfort and protection

I've used these pants for high altitude hiking, climbing and camping. The pants are fill that gap between lighter weight materials and hard shell perfectly.

and you can sleep in them!

I wore these on Mount Rainier for a couple of days and even slept in them. The adjustable waist band is great. They seem a bit baggy in the leg cuffs, but the internal draw cord helped slim them down. The pants are well constructed and enjoyable to wear. Material is rugged and sturdy, handling multiple abrasion against rock and snow perfectly. Slept in them one night and they were better than my pajama pants at home!

Just what i need in a pant

I live and work in the Alaska Range year around and have easy access to the outdoors. Since i've purchased these pants three years ago, i have averaged 300+ hike miles and between 100 and 200 ski miles per year. I have two pair of them, but most of the use has been with one of those two. They are still holding up, and i am still using them on hikes every week. i'd definitely buy them again

Well made with a bias toward use with ski boots.

Well made pants. I like the adjustable waist, belt loops, loops for suspenders and a clip to attach to boot laces. The bottoms are great for ski boots but are too loose for climbing boots. I prefer to avoid bringing gaiters. I would have liked a horizontal thigh pocket zipper orientation over a vertical one.

Great built pants, just wish they were longer

I use this product for fall and winter mountaineering, the pants themselves are built great, are very comfortable when using for an extended period of time. I have a 31" waist and height is 6'2", hoping the Medium size would be OK in terms of the inseam fitting. But unfortunately they are too short for my legs, I don't want to go for an XL to gain the 34" Inseam. I just wish OR would create regular and long length in each size to help out us taller slimmer folks.

Great mountaineering pants

I was surprised at how comfortable these pants were. The special features: gusseted crotch, crampon protection on inner legs, and the grommet hook all came in handy. I snagged my crampons more than once, but never tore a hole in them. With having the grommet hook in place, snow stayed out of my boots even on some post holing, and the risk of tearing open the crotch is virtually gone with the extra strip of material there. I am 6' and 180 lbs. I went with the medium as I have about a 32 inch waist. Sometimes, 31, and sometimes 33. Maybe I could have gone with the large, but I think it would have been too big. As long as they don't shrink, a medium is perfect for someone my size. They can be snug in the quads, but they are stretchy enough that I don't find it restrictive unless you were perhaps a speed-skater or something like that.

Great Soft Shell!

I was looking for a good soft shell for my Rainer trip up the Kautz route. When I was considering these pants I was a little worried about the sizing because a lot of people stated they ran a bit small. Since I was short on time I decided to order the large. When I received them I was surprised the large was too big for me. I returned them and went down to the medium which was a perfect fit. I wore these pants for 4 days on Rainer and loved them. They have good stretch and excellent material. The side pocket was nice for storing my phone to snap the occasional photo. Also having the pockets zip was nice so nothing fell out during the climb. If you are in the market for a soft shell pick these pants up!

Perfect for all snowy alpine adventures

Great for anytime I'm wearing crampons, winter in the Wasatch and summer in the Cascades. Cuts the wind, nice and warm but wearable if temps rise a bit.

4.7 120

Hi, what are specs for XXL size?

Hi Steven, A size XXL has a 42" waist, a 50" low hip measurement, and an inseam of 35". Thank for contacting OR,

I can't tell from your sizing whether I take a medium or small in this alpine pants. I want them for snow shoeing, light mountain climbling(18000 and below), tough, light weight, warm, but with good ventilation if exertion climbing, resistant to crampon cuts, flexible, and water and wind resistant. Any recommendations are welcome- please. These pants are for a male who is 5'7 and 150 lbs and has short legs with an inseam of 29 inches and waist of 32.

Hi Gary, A size Small has a waist measurement of 30" and increases 3" for each additional size up. The inseam measurement for a size Small is 31 and increases 1" for each additional size up. Based on your waist measurement we would recommend a size Medium. The pants have adjustable tabs at the waist or you may use a belt if the pants if there is too much room in the waist. If you needed an insulated version of this pant, consider the Alpenice Pants. Thanks for contacting OR,

What is the waist size of size small?

Hi Victor, The waist size is 30" for a Small, and increases 3" for each additional size up. Thanks for contacting OR,

How should these pants be washed/cleaned? Do they have a DWR coating that needs to be refreshed every now and then?

Hi Caleb, Sorry for the late response. The Cirque pants do have a DWR coating that needs to be refreshed occasionally. We recommend either using a small amount of non-detergent soap (or technical wash), and following up with an extra rinse cycle and a low heat tumble dry cycle. We recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash and Softshell Proof, they sell it as a pack (Softshell DuoPack). Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

On the website, sizes are listed as S, M, L, XL. However, the Size and Fit Guide at the bottom of the page lists measurements in inches or centimeters. If I have a 36" waist and a 32" inseam, which size would you recommend I order?

Bob Labrie

Hi Bob, I would go with the Large. A size Large has a 36" waist and a 33" inseam measurement. If you needed more room to accommodate layering, a size XL has a 39" waist and 34" inseam. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

I'm a 33" waist, 30" inseam. Should I buy a large?

You're on the lower end of size Large, but you can use the velcro tabs on the sides to adjust the waist to fit.

MEN'S CIRQUE PANTS what are the waist and inseam measurements for medium and large
