Everything everyone said it would be

A friend had one and spoke highly. Works well as a wind proof layer or over a t-shirt down to low 40s for me.

Nearly Perfect

This is a very lightweight softshell. If that's what you're looking for, this jacket is pretty much perfect. Breathes well and is pretty darn weatherproof.

Simple, light, and not-bulky

Have only taken this jacket out for a couple of spins so far this fall. Can't rate it yet for durability. But the fit is comfortable in use. It's light and fits well under a climbing harness. I like that it is not bulky and does not block the view of racked gear.

This is the go-to jacket for the daily PNW weather...

This can be a great daily go-to for anyone who wakes up with frost outside their doors. Perfect layer for a chilly hike and can easily be just the appropriate thickness when wanting more than a long sleeve shirt for the trails. Great material to flex, stretch and maintain mobility walking the streets or playing in the woods.

Like the Ferrosi pants, shirt and jacket a lot

Light, very durable, handy and comfortable. Like all the Ferrosi products I've purchased.

I use this jacket in the fall. It cuts the wind nicely and has been good in light rain too. It is super compact, light weight and very comfortable. I'm 5'10" and 185 lbs and the large fits perfectly.

Great Jacket

Great hoody around town, on a hike or at camp. Love the versatility and breath ability of this jacket.

Great jacket

Nice jacket for those early fall and spring days. I have wanted a Ferrosi Jacket for a while and finally got one on sale.. couldn't be happier with it. It is everything I had imagined it would be, light, comfortable, breathable and stylish so it is so nice to wear all the time.

Perfect soft shell

I bought this jacket a few weeks ago and I can't stop wearing it. It is the perfect layer for fall weather. It is breathable, lightweight and very comfortable. Anyone looking for a soft shell should look no further!

Light, effective layer for wind, not for rain

I will lead this off by saying I know this jacket is not designed for rain protection. I will be using it as layer in New Hampshire this October, so I decided I would test it to see what level of protection it would offer. I wore this (Blue and Black) on a 4 mile hike today. Super comfortable, non-restrictive, I love the way it feels, the hood is not restrictive and doesn't make a lot of noise. 5 stars there!! There was drizzle the first mile, building to light rain the last 3 miles. Temperature was about 60 with light wind. The hoody was doing great for a while. It was protecting me from the wind, drizzle and rain. After the first mile I could feel myself getting wetter and wetter as well as colder as I walked on. The light rain built up on the jacket and progressively worked it's way through the the jacket and the hood, through my OR cap (which was under the hood), through my Smartwool hoody and then through my Under Armour tee shirt, resulting in my skin getting wet. So I was starting to get chilled in this light wind and mild rain and was glad to get home. Elapsed time was about 75 minutes. If this has better water resistance I would give it 5 stars, since I knew it is not water proof, I am only docking it 1 star (to 4 stars) because it's water resistance is rather short lived. I will point out that the drizzle and light rain did bead up for awhile, but it didn't last long. Moral of the story, Fantastic if it is not raining, or there is a threat of rain, DO carry a rain poncho in one of the pockets.

I am 6'3'' tall, chest 40'' sleeve 35''. Should I get a M or a L?

Hi Hotzi, We'd recommend a Medium if you prefer your clothes to be fitted, it may be a little short in the sleeve, but it won't be as baggy compared to the Large. Thanks for contacting OR,

Hi. I'm 5' 9" tall, 145 pounds, with a 37/38 " chest. Would you recommend a small or medium? Thanks!

Hi Matt, We would recommend a size Small if you prefer your clothes to be fitted, a size Medium if you wanted it looser. Thanks for contacting OR,

What is the length of the sleeve for the size XXL and XL and how it is measured?

Hi markodecaja, The sleeve length for the XL is 36.5" and for the XXL is 37.5". It is measured from the Center Back to center of cuff (straight measurement). Thanks for contacting OR,

I am looking for a jacket with maximum ventilation and breathable with water resistance for hiking and scrambling in the rain. Would the Ferrosi or Valley rain jacket be better for this? Or is there a different product you would recommend?

Hi Robert, The Valley Jacket will not provide the maximum ventilation and breathability due to the materials. However, the jacket is waterproof and it does feature dual separating, TorsoFlo zippers, which if you do get warm or start to sweat you can open up to ventilate. This jacket would be ideal if you plan on using the jacket in extended periods of rain. The Ferrosi Jacket is water-resistant and provides excellent ventilation and breathability, the material is also very soft and lightweight. However, it is not ideal for an extended time (scrambling) in the rain. If you need a water-resistant jacket with more warmth, the Ascendant Jacket is another option. The Polartec Alpha Direct material is a little bit more durable and burlier than the Alpha material so you may have direct-to-skin contact without a layer in between the fabric and skin. This allows and helps move more moisture to the surface of the fabric to wick away moisture. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

How should this jacket be washed/cleaned? Does it have a DWR coating that needs to be reapplied every once in a while? How should softshells be cared for in general?

Hi Caleb, Sorry for the late response. The Men's Ferrosi Hooded Jacket do have a DWR coating that needs to be refreshed occasionally. We recommend either using a small amount of non-detergent soap (or technical wash), and following up with an extra rinse cycle and a low heat tumble dry cycle. We recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash and Softshell Proof, they sell it as a pack (Softshell DuoPack). Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Is the inside of the jacket lined? What is the texture?

The Ferrosi Hooded Jacket is not lined; the fabric feels the same on the outside as it does on the inside. It's a lightweight softshell fabric with a lot of stretch and breathability.

Hey there! I'm just curious if the ferrosi hoody is the same jacket as the jerrosi hooded jacket? I was interested in the ferrosi hoody but it seems to be all out of stock.

The Ferrosi Hooded Jacket is the updated version of the Ferrosi Hoody. The main difference is the construction of the pockets and the cuffs. (The Ferrosi Hooded Jacket has thumb holes at the cuffs; the Ferrosi Hoody doesn't.)
