I've had this jacket for about a year now, and have been through enough conditions to write a review finally. I've used it with a t-shirt in cool windy temps, 50-60F and it works really well, kept off light drizzle, enough wind blocking to keep the chill off during breaks in movement etc.

I had it up in alaska in the dead of winter, and was a perfect outer layer during active use in temps from -40 to -20. When sized for a athletic fit such as would be useful for climbing, it accommodated a light down jacket and heavy base layer underneath, making it suitable for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, etc in those extreme cold temps. I did find a decent amount of sweat frozen inside the jacket at times, which could be easily shaken off, but considering that breathability is extremely hard to achieve in those extreme cold temps, I was happy with the performance. It will hold back the loft in a down parka needed to be stationary in that environment, so it obviously would not work as an outermost layer in sedentary activities in extreme cold.

I recently used it as my primary shell during a winter attempt at Mt. Stuart in Washington. Temps were between 10 and 25F, with moderate humidity and light snow. The DWR, even after a year, was still going strong, kept the snow off. While trudging through waist deep powder on the approach, it was very breathable and allowed me to stay relatively dry despite the very hard workload, and cut the wind enough that even with only a silk weight base layer on underneath, I could take 5-10 minute breaks without needing to take my pack off and put on a belay jacket. Sadly the deep unconsolidated snowpack defeated our attempt to summit, but at least I was comfortable with this as my primary layer.

So far I have had no durability issues, or pilling. Granted, I only take this jacket out for actual technical outdoor activities, it doesn't get worn for day to day use at all.

The idea is definitely there. Its a fantastic idea, they just didnt quite pull it off. like samsung vs apple. samsung has great ideas, but apple makes the ideas work. What I like most is the feel of the jacket: lightweight, no sound at all (Its a softshell) and I also like the fit, for the most part. The hood does not fit correctly unless you are wearing a helmet, and OR should have thrown on a cinch tab on the back of the hood to pull it back. especially at the price they charge for this jacket. The ferrosi jacket was my go to for alpine climbing this summer, and it still is, i just have to DWR it before every trip or freeze my butt off. All in All, Im excited to see the next version of this jacket and hopefully they will fix those mistakes. If you do buy this jacket, buy the Nikwax wash in DWR... You will need it!

This jacket is my "go to" for the chilly cliff top trails of the New River Gorge or the winter wind of the Jersey Shores. Great product!!!

Perfect for fall weather before it gets too cold. Not afraid of being wet if caught by light rain. Dries super quickly and very resistant I'm not afraid to damage is while rock climbing

During the summer and early fall periods this is my favorite go to jacket. I found this jacket was awesome when spending long hours out in the sun with little to no relief as it kept me from getting further sunburnt. I love the fact that it rolls up nicely into its own pocket as it makes it super convenient for traveling and not wearing or while doing other activities. The fit is great and I cant attest to the water resistance as I tend to switch to a rain jacket.

Great jacket!

This is a great jacket! It breathes really well and is very durable. It is a very specific piece that really only works in certain weather conditions because its too thin to be used in the extreme cold and too thick to be used in the heat. It it a nice feeling jacket and packs small to throw in just for the day! The stitching on the shoulder seams has started to come apart but I should see a lot more life come from this jacket.

I wear this jacket everyday. My car got broken into and a lot of gear was stolen; the first thing I did was replace this jacket. I'm 6'4" (192cm) and 185 lbs (83kg) and the large fits great. It's lightweight enough to take on a run or cross country ski, its water resistant enough to put over a thin down jacket in a sprinkle. Just wonderful!

Whether trail running in rain or backpacking in snow, this jacket has performed beautifully. This is my go to jacket when I am out working hard and want wind and light rain protection. Great mobility in this jacket and I actually really like the hood. I am usually not a fan of hoods as I find them too restrictive but this hoods doesn't seem to restrict but does protect from cold and wind. The only negative I have experienced so far is that it seems to hold body odor and can get rather stinky.
