These pants dig climbs that take them a few hundred feet off the deck. The tough but stretchy, breathable but wind-resistant Ferrosi fabric stays cool during long approach hikes, moves with you while talus wrangling and high-stepping on the sharp end, and blocks wind during long hours of belaying up high.

Wore a pair of Ferrosi pants this spring on an 880+ mile trek across southern Utah and northern Arizona. The pants held up to 59 days of continuous hiking, scrambling, river wading, wash walking, and thorny brush-bashing. Only a few rips from sharp limestone and snagging on juniper. They were comfortable in varied temps that ranged from 20 degrees F to the upper 90s. I was very impressed with their durability and versatility. Surprised that stuff in my leg pocket stayed secure, despite the vertical zipper. After this trip, this pair of pants still has plenty of miles left in them for summer and fall Cascades adventures. Only drawbacks: the drawcord cuff closures collect a lot of sand and don't really stay secure and after 10 days of continuous wear the fabric stretches to the point you want to have a built. Note: The men's pants are a better fit for women with strong legs who don't want skin tight pants and who aren't into the bows/drawstring bow on the women's version.

I bought a pair of these pants in march of 2016 (I'm 5'7 and 195 lbs and got a size large that fit awesome) and was told by my friends that they were the best pants around for backpacking, climbing, etc. I work in a profession where I consistently am doing that type of stuff and am teaching troubled teens how to do it. I have got to say that they held up really well for the first 6 months and I had nothing but compliments to give these pants, however after not having them for even a year they're already causing me some trouble.

I have worn the pants probably 45+ days and now the stiching is coming undone literally everywhere. The back pocket stitching is falling apart, the stiching in the crotch area is coming undone and I am pretty confident that within the next 5 or so times of wearing these pants they will no longer be functional. I love all my OR gear and expected these pants to do well, however in my eyes they fell short of my expectations in a big way.

    Comments about Men's Ferrosi Pants:

I wear these pants everywhere. I wear them hiking and they look so nice that I wear them to work too. they stretch good and they are water resistant to a certain degree. I wouldn't want to be in a rain storm in them. But they do dry really fast. I like them so much. I bought another color and the shorts version of these. Equally as nice.

Living in the North West we at not used to extreme high heat. We had to travel to Yuma, AZ where temps were a good 40-50 degrees hotter than we had here at home and these are the only pant that did not stick to me like a wet napkin. that shielded the sun, allowed air flow and stayed dry. the only one I brought on the trip to hold up to the heat.

Comments about OR Men's Ferrosi Pants:

I don't think I've worn a better feeling pair of pants. These pants are made from a thin, soft-touch material with enough stretch that they feel completely non-binding and weightless. Being a cyclist with thick thighs, I often have trouble finding pants with enough room around the upper leg and glutes while maintaining a trim fit around the waist. These pants offer both room for movement with a waist that is still form fitting. To date, Patagonia pants have been the best fit for me, but based on this experience with the Ferrosi pant, I will definitely consider Outdoor Research for future pants and shorts purchases.

Comments about OR Men's Ferrosi Pants:

I bought a pair of the Ferrosi pants 6 years ago. They are still almost the same as when I bought them even though I haven't been that easy with them. I used that product on every summer and winter hicking (warm winter!) and outdoor rock climbing. The only thing I can see after these years is some yarn fabric on the edge of the leg pocket and the black colour that has lost some of it's darkness on the used areas.
I used it during every four seasons, even on warm winter's days with a base layer under. Even though it's not windproof or waterproof, it is protecting very well against wind and water.
I'm now buying a new pair because they are now fitting my size better with the 28" size that they seem to have introduced on the Ferrosi pants and shorts.

        Favorite Hiking Pantalons

Comments about OR Men's Ferrosi Pants:

Love these pants for hiking and climbing! I'd run out of space to write everywhere they've been!
I'm 5'9" and 200ish lbs. I wear a 36, fit is good, maybe a little loose in the waist. Previously wore a 34 but they were tighter in the thighs.
Only thing I would change is more structure in certain areas (i.e. the waist to support a belt). A slightly more burly fabric in the waist, seat, knees and thighs perhaps. A dual denier build, similar to the newest Ferrosi hoody...Just a thought.
I really should have a couple more pair of these! Love em, great pants OR!

        My new favorite pants

Comments about OR Men's Ferrosi Pants:

Great fitting lightweight pants. These pants are well thought out with the zippered pockets, stretch fabric, and simple design. The wind and water resistance are essential for hiking, hunting or climbing here in Alaska. After wearing them on several steep and windy hikes this spring, I am very impressed. They flexed well, kept the wind out, and dried quickly. The only improvement I'd recommend is a second thigh pocket to hold a Spot or In-Reach (and maybe offer them in multicam).

Comments about OR Men's Ferrosi Pants:

In hot and humid weather, nothing compares to the Ferrosi pants. It definitely qualifies as a 3-season pants. It's not built for cold weather, but I don't think it was intended for that temperature extreme. There are some issues that OR should address to make it unbeatable. First, the sizing is off by about an inch in the inseam and the waist. Second, it pills when exposed to even slightly abrasive surfaces. If the above improvements bumped up the price to $100, I wouldn't hesitate to buy some.

Comments about OR Men's Ferrosi Pants:

These pants fit great! I am 175# 6' tall 31"waist and body builders thighs. These pants fit very comfortably, they are not tight on my legs, but not baggy either. I have worn them camping over multiple days, backpacking above 40F, and even to work with a blazer and tie!

I have two pairs and have owned them for over two years. I even spilled flaming bacon grease on one pair! It saved my leg (my hand got partial and full burns, but the bacon was worth it!), however that pair is now relegated to hiking as a result of damage from the flaming bacon grease, but they do smell amazing!

I would strongly recommend these pants for casual wear and hiking, they are very durable and comfortable. They have held up much better than my hiking buddies comparable Columbia's. In fact he is buying a pair of Ferrosi pants as a result of observing mine over the past few years.
