Hi everyone, I am from Malaysia.

I bought this jacket recently (May 2017) from a Outdoor Life in Velocity / Novena Square in Singapore.

I recently wore this jacket and climbed up to Mount Kinabalu in the state of Sabah in Malaysia.
Along the way, there was only drizzle and the water appeared as beads on my jacket and I could easily get rid of it by shaking the jacket. Before this, I had tried walking in rain and the jacket work very well as mentioned above.
On my way to the summit from 2:30am in the morning, the weather was pretty cold especially when the wind blew. The jacket worked very well to protect me from the wind, and I didn't fell cold but felt comfortable with a Icebreaker Merino base layer underneath the jacket. I opened up my torso zippers and the air flow into my body and kept me cool and comfortable throughout the whole journey. The torso zipper is fantastic!
I love this jacket very much and would like to share with everyone and recommend you to buy this jacket!
Many thanks to OR for creating such a good jacket, thank you OR!!!

I don't know how one person writing these reviews haven't come across this yet, except for one person who was spot on. I own 2 of these jackets (Pewter & Taos) and one of the biggest problem this jacket has, is that the outer fabric wets out - Gore-Tex still good, still waterproof. I live here in Toronto, ON. and we get a good amount of rain here. I was itching to test the jacket out, because I heard of good things about OR. After receiving it, I waited for some rain and after testing it in 2 different occasions, where the weather had about 5-10mm rain, the DWR wore off and the outer fabric starts to wet out. Very disappointing. I think because of the constant use of the stuffing it in the stuff sack, it wore off the DWR - wore it 2 times, so stuffing it and pulling it out 4 times can definitely wear it out faster. Not sure if that was the issue though. I work at an outdoor store, so I get to try things out and test 'em. There is only one company that utilizes Gore-Tex very well and their usage in Gore-Tex is why it surpasses other companies, but there ridiculously expensive.

One of the other disappointing thing about this jacket is the durability of the jacket. Because of the soft outer face fabric, it's prone to puncture. It actually has the look and feel of a softshell outer face fabric. After 3 months of use, there were 2 small size holes on the lower back of the jacket and it punctured right through the Gore-Tex. No idea how it got there. I sent it to OR for a warranty and received a new one in return. Warranty is awesome by the way!

I mostly use this jacket for city-wear and hiking. I tried using this for skiing/snowboarding, but I find it a bit to restricting in the upper torso area. Helmet wouldn't fit underneath the hood properly, probably a bit to fitted. Because of the Paclite, I could toss this in my pack and I'm ready to tackle the day without worries, minus the wet out. I've been wearing this jacket in the winter this season and I like to layer up - if you layer up properly, you'll definitely stay warm and happy during the winter. I'm 180cm and weigh in at 170lbs with a 16-17" shoulder. I tend to heat more than the average person, and during -10ᄚC weather, I could wear a baselayer, t-shirt or longsleeve and a fleece underneath, I have decent mobility only if I don't reach my arms forward. If you add an inch or inch and a half, I'll be happy. Any colder, I'll swap the fleece for a down jacket.

I wouldn't wear this jacket in summer, like rainforest type weather. I find Gore-Tex ability to breathe diminishes from there and you're basically SOL. Good for Fall, Winter and the early seasons of Spring or like very mild weather (anything below 10ᄚC). I really like the 2-way zipper; and the Torsoflo you have going on! I was skeptical at first about it, but it won me over. You got extra ventilation with the pockets because of the mesh, but who really needs that when you got the Torsoflo! I like the elasticized cuff with the velcro closure. - you can cuff it all the way down (or half way) and still have some stretch to move. I do notice that the outer face fabric has some stretch to it. That's a nice touch, but prone to wet out very easily. You got many good things going on, but a lot of the bad has kept me from buying more. Unless there was minor improvements, I'll definitely get more, but I think I'll stick to just 2 for now.

Great jacket. Fits really well. I needed to replace my old rain jacket that outlived it's usefulness. The OR jacket got tested in heavy rain a few weeks back and it meet and exceeded expectations. It's light weight and is easy to pack and take on a hike, camping, or road trip.

I finally upgraded to a proper rain shell this season and its been great. The Gortex technology really is a step up from your typical cheap rain jacket. The poncho style zippers on the Foray Jacket are such a blessing when you're warm but the rain is coming down. I often do my backpack's hip strap up underneath the poncho to allow for greater breathability while keeping hip pockets nice and dry.

        Comments about Men's Foray Jacket:

Bought this to replace a warranty replacement from another company. They changed the jacket, and it sucked. Got the jacket just before a personal trip to the big island of Hawaii. When we hit the wet side and the volcano, this jacket was perfect. I got a trim size (L for my 6' 3" trim frame) and when setting out for a 8 mile hike around the caldera the sky opened up. I was able to keep my lil pack with all the essentials and water under the jacket while still being comfortable and dry. True to the islands, it would periodically rain heavily then be hot and sunny. The full-open pit zips are the shiznet. Most of the time it was drizzling with patches of sun, and my gear, and me, stayed dry and ventilated.

I'll also use this as my ski jacket when the temps turn. A friend has the dedicated ski jacket with the zip to hem pit zips and loves it. Good for the uppy when it is spitting, then seal it down for the descent.

Better than a true hardshell 99% of the time

                    Comments about Men's Foray Jacket:

This is perfect for almost all weather/ uses, however, at over $200, it's probably worth cross shopping this and (last season's) true 3 layer hardshells. In addition to backpacking, I use this (and the foray pants when the skies really open up) for my bike commute year round in the willamette valley.
This jacket does make some design compromises for everyday use, compared to technical hard shells:
-Pockets aren't harness/pack compatible, however this is somewhat alleviated by the torsoflow zips, which allow you put the front of the jacket over your hipbelt.
-The hood is sized to fit without a helmet, moves with your head, and doesn't impede peripheral vision. However, it is not (comfortably) helmet compatible and doesn't have a wire brim. The rear toggle adjuster means it can't fit comfortably under a helmet either.
                    - In hot weather I've found the 2 layer paclite/polyester fabric actually breathes better than gorepro 3 layer jackets I've used, however it is less windproof; gusts over 40mph cut through it a little. I wouldn't want to rely on it on glacier (not that it's marketed for that). Being a 2 layer fabric, it is somewhat delicate. After about five months of near daily use I noticed a small tear in the paclite membrane, which was easy enough to patch. I would have appreciated some sort of lining in the hood and right hand pocket (the left is mesh lined to convert to a stuff sack) to protect the membrane from abrasion and oils from skin and hair. I do have full confidence in OR's warranty if it develops any issues I can't fix myself.
-It does wet out sooner than jackets I've used with nylon face fabric. This is really the only inexcusable flaw, but it's not a huge deal, as it dries quickly and is well ventilated.
