The Illuminate Down Hoody and Jacket are the lightest, warmest, easiest-to-grab midlayer pieces that pack 800-fill responsibly sourced down insulation into their own left-hand pocket. A sturdy nylon shell and lining provide light weather resistance and next-to-skin ultra-soft comfort, while fine-tuned details like a brushed tricot interior and zip chest media pocket ensure hands and valuables stay warm, dry, and safe. Elastic cuffs and drawcord hem trap in warmth and seal out cold, and a color-blocked design looks as good as it performs in freezing temps.

RATING AND REVIEWS

Great Lightweight Jacket!

5

I started wearing this as a mid layer jacket for temperatures in the -10 c range with a hard shell over top. It is comfortable, fits well and can also be worn as a casual jacket as well. I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability but from what I see it is well made.

Really light and, so far, warm jacket

4

I've currently used this jacket around town in 30-45 deg weather. I thought being so thin and light, I'll feel cold in it. But it is very warm. I like the deep pockets, and the front pockets are deep enough to use to keep hands warm. With a warm beanie, this is the perfect, light winter jacket. I plan to use it for backpacking. Shall update this review after that.

Very light and compressible

5

Light, compressible and warm but feels like it could easily rip.

The best of the puffys out there

5

Looks good as a casual jacket with a unique to puffies style, but also provides plenty of warmth below freezing. Packs small, and is perfect under a waterproof shell to provide warmth down to very cold temps. In other words, very versatile piece of gear that I expect to have for many years despite using it a lot.

So warm, so light

I'm older now so I get cold easier. This jacket is very toasty. I'm warm at rest on a belay, or de-icing cars and driveways. It's so light I barely know its there and packs down to stow when temps climb out of the basement. Love the jacket! Only drawback is that the torso is longer than my 2 OR shells, so the last centimeter pokes out from under my Ferosi.

Everything I've come to expect from OR!

I've been wearing this jacket in 0-40 degree weather this winter and it has kept me perfectly warm. It's really all you need down to about 30 or colder if you're being active. If it's colder it makes for the perfect insulation. It put it under my Foray or Ferosi jacket and it fits perfectly. It's not too long or too short, and since it's not bulky and has a trimmer fit it fits underneath without having a bunch of extra bulk. Other reviews say it fits small, so that may be a consideration if you're a big guy, but I'm 5'10" and 160lbs and a small fit me well (I don't like super lose fitting clothes). Only downside is that the outer shell would tear fairly easy if caught on a branch or something, so if you plan on climbing or going through heavy brush, definitely wear a hardshell. All in all, a great down jacket for backcountry use (and casual use too; I've gotten several compliments on it!).

Nice jacket - maybe a bit too long though

Just received the jacket. I like it but I prefer a shorter length also I wasn't expecting the material to be that shiny nylon - not a huge fan of that type of finish but I can live with it.

Great and Powerful

This is a great, lightweight down jacket, perfect for cold temperatures, but not freezing. Let's say it's 30 degrees outside, all you have to do is get a sweatshirt or sweater, and with this jacket, you will be more than comfy and warm. Maybe you want something that is not bulky, but warm and easy to wear. It goes great with a pair of jeans and gym shoes. The fabric does seem delicate, so if you want to do some serious hiking you will need an outer shell to protect the jacket. As I'm sure that thorns would rip this thing wide open. But if you live in the city, and want something to grab and run out the door, you won't be disappointed, it also offers a full range of motion, especially in the arms.
