I have had this jacket for almost two years now and have not torn it yet. That has surprised me due to the light material in the shell. I normally wear a Medium but got a Large so i could use it over my softshell jacket (a medium) at belays. It is very warm in this config. and slides on easily. It is not warm enough to keep you toasty on a windy 30 degree day when sitting on your rear for awhile, but if you are active it does a good job. I bring this jacket everyhwere because it is so versatile. Pros The features of this jacket will surprise you for the price. I lke it better than the Patagonia Nano. Micro fleece used in the collar and in the hand warmer pockets is durable. I have a short beard and the collar has not pilled. It folds into it's hand warmer pocket, and the pocket has a clip to attach to your harness. (You can also clip your keys to it so you don't lose them on the hike in) Drawcords at the bottom help to seal out the wind. You can adjust each one using one hand. It slides on over your fleece easily because the sleeves are lined with nylon! This is a joy because sliding a fleece jacket over a fleece baselayer sucks. Cons It could definitely be warmer. It only has 60grams of Primaloft eco. If it had more Primaloft i would give it 5 out of five stars. (I would love 80g of Primaloft One!) You must reapply the DWR to the shell every now and then or it will easily wet-out. It is not totally windproof (but it does a good job.)

This looked like the perfect jacket in a world full of these types. I liked the micro fleece around the collar and the adjustable cuffs, plus chest pocket as compared to other brands. But real sizing issues. I wear a size 44 suit coat. In Patagonia, Marmot, Cloudveil and North Face I am a solid large. Mtn. Hardwear runs small so I get XL. I tried on an OR down jacket and definitely need an XL there. So ordered an XL in the neoplume. Shoulder seam hung off shoulders and arms way long -so I ordered a L. The L binds and cuts under the arms. Look at the OR sizing chart. An L is a 43 and an XL is a 46. Typically a L is a 42 - 44. in other brands.. So BELIEVE the sizing chart. I am simply in between and it just would not work. Sorry, as I loved the jacket and features.

Love it!

I've had this for years and it has held up to the test of time. The outside chest pocket just got a hole in it, but I've used it so often for many years that something was bound to happen eventually. I would still say this jacket is incredibly durable! I use this with a shell if it's really cold and/or wet, but this might be one of my most used winter jackets. I've used it under a shell for winter hikes, skiing, or to cover up when stopping during a more active adventure. I love it for simply walking around the city. I hope they don't get rid of this because in a few years I will likely want to buy a new one. As you can see from the reviews, which go back to 2010, this is a great jacket.

Great in the cold

This jacket is great. I'm 6'3 210lbs and bought the XL. I've pretty much worn this everyday for the last few weeks in the rain and snow up here in WA. Quality product that I love.

Great layer and backup

Owned this jacket about three years and I keep it in my pack and with me whenever I'll need an extra layer. It's good as a layer, but I've made the mistake for substituting it for one of my down layers and it's not as warm. Only negative is that some of the seams started to go within the first year of ownership. I'm 6'2", 190lbs with a 43 inch chest. A large fits fine.

Double-Separating Zipper, Needed.

I love this jacket.just wish it could have the Double-Separating Center Front Zipper. And as a matter fact I really wish most of there jackets did. You get hot in there stuff and just want to open to ventilate while still doing what you need to do with out stoping to to zip up because you got cooled again.

Great jacket for the weight and cost

This is a great multi-purpose jacket for an excellent price. It's extremely warm for how thin and packable it is and the synthetic insulation means I can wear it anytime without worrying about it getting wet and losing all its warmth.
The fit is good allowing me to wear a base layer and fleece underneath it and the outer fabric slides easily under any other jacket. I appreciate the drawcord at the hem and velcro cuffs to keep the warmth in (I have broader shoulders and chest and slimmer waist so a jacket without an adjustable hem lets all the heat out the bottom).
I bought the black one and its looks are versatile enough that I can wear it under a dressier wool coat around town and it fits in just as well as it does under a parka in mid winter or as an outer layer in a windy hilltop in summer.
Definitely a "go to" piece for me.

Great light jacket

This jacket has been a staple in my pack for the last 5 years. It layers well with the Starfire shell and still fits under a shell. After five years the insulation has packed out but this was a great value. Fit is great.

Good Buy

Up here in Canada, our winters are a little colder than down south so during the colder periods this thin midlayer adds an excellent, low-bulk, streamlined portion that is still flexible and fashionable. On the milder days, a good baselayer and this is all you need.

Fantastic buy.

Favorite Jacket

I own two and gave one as a gift--I love this jacket so much. I wear it in town, throw it in my pack for 3 season climbs and wear it under my waders all winter steelhead fishing. The fit is great and I can wear layers underneath for more warmth--at the same time I sometimes wear it as a layer under my rain shell. And it looks good too. If I could pick only one jacket this would be it.

Super Warm.

I've had this jacket for at least 6 years, through thick and thin, and it is so WARM! I wear it for everything: straight as a jacket; or under-layer. It is a real workhorse. It's been through the mill and there are no tears, rips, or broken zippers. It is a true 'go to' jacket. I just wish OR made women's neoplume pants to go with the jacket.

Deceptively warm. Stays dry for about an hour in hard rain. Windproof. Lightweight. Ultra compressible.
