RATING AND REVIEWS

Very well constructed tech shirt

5

Very nice tech shirt. I use it for running. It moves with you without any undue chafage or annoying seams. I like the loud yellow color. It sizes true for me.

Nice shirt

I had purchased one of the Octane shirts earlier and liked it well enough that i tried to grab a couple of more in different colors at the discounted price. But all but one color (blue) was sold out in my size. I'm 6'1", around 183 pounds, with an average build and a couple of extra pounds around the waist. I'm a large in most shirts, and the Octane in large was a good fit-relaxed without being baggy or floppy. Sleeves aren't at all binding, width across shoulders is fine, and the overall length is good, falling about three inches below the belt line. The material is fairly thin, yet seems sturdy. It's moderately stretchy, and feels comfortable on the skin. In warmer weather, the mesh venting panels in the upper back and under the arms really seem to help me to stay cool(er). It doesn't hold much water (sweat) and dries quickly. For backpackers, the fabric seam along the top of the shoulders is set forward a bit so it doesn't fall directly under pack straps. Contrasting seam coverings and stitching add a bit of a sporty look. Apparently, OR has made some small design changes in this shirt. The back mesh panel on my older, gray version is slightly wider and longer and shaped differently than the one on the blue shirt i just got. And, that panel on the blue shirt has some dividing accent details that the gray shirt lacks. The gray shirt also has a couple of small, reflective accents on the hem of each sleeve that aren't on the blue one. The only downside so far is that the material seems a little prone to pulling and snagging. I've only worn the older, gray shirt a few times, including some backpacking, and there are already a few small snags. I'd expect more with even moderate use. So, one star held back for that. Potential durability issues aside, this is a nice, lightweight shirt for warm-weather active use.
