Hood too big!

This shell is phenomenal for rainy weather or wearing on top of other layers. My only complaints are that the helmet compatible hood is ridiculously large and uncomfortable even when cinched up and the zippers are kind of hard to get started. I wish OR made this jacket with the option for a normal hood

Super light , wind and water proof

I wore this skiing in the Alps, the weather was warm but windy and as the sun went in it got cold, but just an undershirt and this shell kept the wind out and I stayed warm even in the shade! Super light weight and easy to pack too.

Great shell

Skiing warm days, Alpine touring, rain jacket

Awesome hardshell!

This is used when the weather makes a turn for the worse. I sized up to fit over my other layers. Does the job it's made to do.

Ultra light weight goretex jacket

Currently using this jacket for my commute 5 days a week. Very impressed with the breathability and love how the large hood fits perfectly over my helmet.

Overall great jacket the dimensions seem a little off

So I got this one for me. for reference I'm 5'9 145lbs slimmer build 38/40 suit size. I hoped to get a medium but ended up having to try a large and small. Some reviews said the jacket ran small some said it was true to size. It ended up that the small fit me best but I do have some areas I would improve. Basically the sleeves are much longer then other jackets, shirts etc in my experience and the torso is shorter. This played out that the sleeves on the small fit me great but the torso is a little tighter then I'd like, its workable but still, and the torso is also shorter then I'd like so either tighten up that waist cord or expect drafts. Now you'r probably saying well get a medium but then the sleeves would be way to long if the large is indicative of how the sleeve length changes between sizes. Add in that the sleeves are quite baggy and use a velcro style cinch instead of the elastic style that is on the Interstellar I purchased for mom I opted to go with best fitting sleeves I could and sacrifice on the torso. Now don't get me wrong the jacket has grown on me but I had reservations upon first inspection.

Tougher and thinner than I expected, pleasantly surprised

I was looking for a lighter replacement for my Maximus jacket that could be more of a 4 season shell and not just winter. I took the gamble as the Optimizer is significantly thinner but I have layers for days. I recently took this slick jacket high up into Olympic National Park and it saw the worst of the worst while keeping the water out, fitting well, and breathing. The fatigue color was also on point, as this is going to be my jacket for hunting season. I was < 60 yards from a bull elk last weekend so the color works. I wish OR made more mid layers like the Cathode in camo or fatigue, it would be the rage of the hunting community.

Nice as a minimalist but sized small compared to other OR ja

I had a hard time deciding between this jacket and the Interstellar. I went with the Gortex Optimizer. I can't comment on the fabric used in the Interstellar but hopefully the Gortex ends up being better because there isn't much more to the jacket. Once I had it in hand, it seems that pit zips might have been nice to have for the extra $ but it would have added weight and we'll see if the pocket design works for ventilation. In a Large, It fits very tight for a 6' and 185 pounds male. I have the Helium II I use for backpacking in the same Large size and it has plenty of room for a fleece. Not this jacket. Last disappointment is the hood. No matter how I configure the various adjustments, the bill keeps coming down too low, making it difficult to look while belaying.

Great jacket!

I was a bit worried about the lack of pit zips on this jacket, but they aren't necessary at all with this Gore-Tex active. Packs small and is most certainly waterproof. Great jacket overall

Great Product

Great rain jacket, light and pack able. Definitely enjoying this jacket. Only con is the size. I'm 6'3", 190 lbs and usually fit a large if I don't want to layer as this is meant for a summer rain jacket. I ordered large and it was to tight around the waist, I'm a 34", I had to order the XL, it's a little bigger but I made it work. Great quality jacket.
