Great Product

Great rain jacket, light and pack able. Definitely enjoying this jacket. Only con is the size. I'm 6'3", 190 lbs and usually fit a large if I don't want to layer as this is meant for a summer rain jacket. I ordered large and it was to tight around the waist, I'm a 34", I had to order the XL, it's a little bigger but I made it work. Great quality jacket.

Optimier vs Interstellr

I got this jacket as a warranty replacement for another shell that I had through OR's excellent warranty program. After ordering both the Interstellar and the Optimizer jacket, I chose to return the Interstellar and keep the Optimizer. For reference, I am 5'8" and around 160 pounds. I have a 40" chest and 31" waistline - I usually wear a medium shirt. I bought this jacket initially in medium, but decided I wanted it to be more fitted and exchanged it for a small, which results in a comfortable and trim fit. I chose the Fatigue color, which looks great. For comparison as far as Gore-tex goes, I own a Foray jacket and an Arc'teryx Theta AR. What I really like about the foray versus the other two jackets is its less-noisy and less crinkly material that the Optimizer brings to the table with the Gore Active shell. This shell appears to feature the same lining (Gore calls this a "backer" material) as my Arcteryx jacket does, which is superb as is does not cling to clothing or hang on to body odor, and makes sliding the coat on over a layer that would tend to "grab" other jakcets and bunch up when you put it on a nonexistent issue. This is where the interstellar fell short - it features a fleece - like backer that catches on clothing, makes static build up in fleece, and bunches up in the sleeves and body when you put it on and take it off. So far, I feel that the philosophy of using the jackets pockets to double up as vents is sound in theory and practice. This seems quite effective, and I don't find myself missing the pit-zips my other jackets have as I don't feel they are necessary in the Optimizer. Additionally, the lack of pit zips keeps the jacket lightweight. One surprise bonus was the design of the collar/hood, which really mimics the Arcteryx storm collar quite well, which offers excellent protection from the elements.

Beautiful Jacket!

This jacket is very lightweight and completely waterproof. Due to the lightweight nature of the material it will be interesting to see how the jacket wears over time. So far this jacket has been great!

Great coat that fits my needs

So far I really like this parka. I'm an avid backpacker and skier and the coat gets used for both. I really like the customizable hood and the fact that I can access the pockets with a pack on. This parka is very light and takes up very little room in my pack. I can't comment yet on durability because I haven't owned it through an entire season, but so far so good. Large size is a little small on me, but still works. I'm 5'10" 175 with 43" chest. I only gave 4 stars because I can't comment on durability at this time.

Perfect packable shell

Keeps the water out, breaths when I work up a sweat skinning up a slope, and adds close to no weight to my pack. Love this.

Awesome jacket

Great jacket! Came just in time for a nor'easter. Kept me totally warm and dry.

very good jacket but beware of the sizing.

very lightweight and highly breathable while giving very good weather protection. got the fatigue color that in reality is something between green and gray. the picture in OR's website does not accurately depict the color but i guess this is due to the computer monitor.
