Charge headfirst into gusty rides, runs, or summit assaults with the updated Tantrum II Hooded Jacket. This windbreaker does more than guard against less-than-ideal weather conditions; its movement-mirroring stretch lets you shift and flex on the move, while nylon 20D ripstop adds durability against trail debris. Thumb loops and an elastic drawcord hem let you cinch down its length for extra protection, and a zippered chest pocket doubles as a stuff sack so you can stow, carry, and whip out this 4.7-ounce wind shell whenever it's needed most.

Packs small, great to throw on

This is a great jacket to toss in a pack or even stuff in your pants pocket for when it's kinda between cold enough to need a jacket and not. While not waterproof, it's pretty water repellent. Price is right, quality good, and fit is good. Only wish is that it had hand pockets (which would add to bulk and weight), but only having a breast pocket doesn't work so well with car keys, etc.

Hands down best wind breaker out there

I was a skeptic about wind breakers, it seemed to me a like a complete waste of money. I decided to give the tantrum a try and wow I was super impressed. Despite how lightweight it's surprisingly durable. I've used this in many pacific northwest mountains as well as Denali in Alaska and it has not disappointed me. I also use it for casual bike rides and it's awesome.

Well Made

Too warm to try running with this new jacket. Very well made. Fits me well. No reason not to run in light rain now that I have this jacket.

Great lightweight active layer.

Great, light weight wind jacket perfect for trail running or paddling when a base layer isn't enough, but an insulated layer or full on jacket is too much. It also packs up to almost nothing - so its easy to bring along or shed without worrying about bulk or storage. (Fits in a cycling jersey pocket)

My favorite piece of gear!

This is my second Tantrum and I just love these! I have used it biking, hiking and just around town. A great layer to have for those early spring days where the sun is out, but the breeze is still chilly. Fits great into my MTB kit and super breathable!

Great jacket, but arms are short

This is a nice jacket - perfect for trail running in mixed weather. Unfortunately, the arms are short compared to other OR jackets. Usually an OR large is fine for me, but the sleeves on the large of this jacket were a few inches too short. I have really long arms, so it was a deal-breaker in my case. Maybe not for you. But just a head's up if you are sizing this based on other OR jackets.

This is a great trail running jacket

I bought this as a trail running jacket for the winter time in NC. I wear it over a long sleeve athletic shirt and that is it and I only really wear it under 40 degrees F. It works great, I have yet to overheat in it and it seems to keep me a magical perfect temperature. If I get cold, I flip the hood up, if I get warm I unzip a quarter way. I like the thumb loops too and it's super light weight. I know there are other jackets that are lighter but I can't think of any reason you'd need one lighter than this. The mountains have a good wind wip and this cuts the wind perfectly fine for me. Only complaint is the sizing might be a tough off. I am 6'2" and 165lbs and I got the large. It fits in the arms great and is a little roomy for layers underneath (not a problem) but my complaint is with the zipper... it bulges outward near the waist line giving the impression that you are a little too happy (if you know what I mean) to be running. Maybe a medium would remedy this but I think I'd lose the arm length I need at that point.

The Super Jacket

I have tried plenty of "light jackets" in the past and this is by far the best. The minute I received it, I wore it for a 10k run on a brisk, slightly wet evening and It performed above my expectations. Very breathable, extremely light and packable, the hood with small visor is of perfect size and the chest zipper pocket is a great addition. The search is over after all these years...this is the perfect jacket for me. I purchased the yellow color as well.

Is this spf rated? Is it good to shield from the sun?

the tantrum does not have a direct UPF rating, but it works as a sun good sun shield when paired with a base-layer
