Sewing Skills Needed Until Issue with Waist Snap Resolved

3

Everything about these pants is great, except the 2 snap fasteners at the waist ripped out on Day one and Day three of use respectively. A manufacturing glitch which I am sure OR will promptly address but still disconcerting as the second snap ripped out in the middle of a hut trip. I would recommend these once OR has confirmed that they have addressed this issue with whoever sewed the snaps on.

Great ski touring pants

5

Great soft shell pants for ski touring. They breathe well with the deep vents, but still block the wind from cutting too much when it's cold. On warm sunny days, the sweat dries in minutes. The reinforced clip for the transceiver is a nice addition and the internal mesh sleeve keeps the beacon in place while hiking and skiing. I usually prefer suspenders, but found myself just using the built in velcro waist adjustments for a great fit that stays in place all day. Running shock cord through the grommets and pulling the ankle cinch cord make for reliable gaiters for mountaineering boots. I only have two small criticisms for these pants. 1) I wish there were more color options, like blue or purple. 2) On warm days, the skin in contact with the lower leg Pertex Shield+ gets a little sweaty, but this is a fair trade for the water resistance when breaking knee deep trail. All in all, these are the ski touring pants I have been looking for.

Best pair of pants I own!

Love lov love these pants. They dump heat well, have a nice powder skirt, and have pockets large enough and where you want them! These pants will do it all.

Great Pants

4

Fit on these pants is a little tricky. The diameter of the mid-thigh is snugger than it should be. Could also use a bit more rise. Size up. Functionally they are great, the micro mesh internal gaiters are brilliant, lets you vent your lower legs on hot days while keeping your boot cuffs covered.

Perfect Ski Touring Pants

5

I have been on the search for the perfect pair of softshell ski touring pants for several years now and I feel like a finally struck gold with these. I am not a large dude (5'8" 29" waist) and it's hard to find ski bottoms that aren't huge and ridiculously ill fitting. The velcro waist adjustments on these make it easy to get the perfect fit, and the length is just right. Before these I had the OR Valhalla pants, which are great, but more relaxed and more macaroni-and-cheese yellow than I care for. I tried the Cirque pants, but they were a more "Euro cut" than I wanted. The Trailbreaker pants are the Goldilocks of touring pants: not to tight and not too loose (and they still interface well with ski boots!). Pants are durable and the lower, waterproof sections keep my legs dry on deep days. Pants are plenty breathable especially with the side zips. The only thing I don't like about them are the suspenders, which adjust using velcro, and just seem a little hokey. I don't use them and don't feel like I need them.

These pants are awesome! Waterproof where you need it for ski/splitboard touring and most importantly, breathable! Not only does the soft shell area breath and dry well the thigh vents are great at dumping heat as needed. Getting The jacket when back in stock!
