perfect jacket for women too

I have tried many of the women's puffy coats to no avail and this men's coat is perfect. The fit is great for someone who doesn't want a women's fitted coat and the medium fits perfect over my size 29 hips.

Great jacket, but an old one I have gets tons of holes.

I love this jacket (and an old one that I wear all the time), but these jackets lose feathers over time. My old Transcendent has dozens of tiny holes which I've patched. I have no idea why it's gotten so many holes. Patching them works, but the sleeves have still lost a ton of feathers.

Great coat. Bad chest zipper.

I'm 6'3" 230 lbs and the Xl fits me well in body and arm length. I would like a little more body length but at my height I know that is asking for a lot. Overall I am happy with the coat. The only thing I don't like is the chest pocket zipper. The zipper tab is very very small and difficult to find and grab when wearing gloves. The chest zipper has a lot of drag also. I cannot use one hand to open and close the zipper. I have to use my other hand to hold the coat still.

Great Jacket

I bought this jacket because I have been eyeing it for awhile. I have several like it from North Face and Columbia. I think this one is better constructed. I love the feel of the jacket, it feels like it will be good ffor casual wear and for winter sports. Unfortunately I need to return it and get a bigger size, because it runs smaller that other manufacturers. So I have the bigger one on the way and we will see.

Want one for the whole family

Bought this a couple weeks ago in the bright orange color - was hesitant on going so bright, but I have grown to like it. So far has been used as a general day-to day coat (-6 Celsius to -28 Celius with another layer underneath), as an insulating layer while downhill skiing (-14 celsius with a goretex coat overtop, with a long sleeved merino shirt underneath), and as an outerlayer for fat-biking (again with a long sleeve merino t-shirt underneath). No concerns about warmth at all. Sleeves are nice and long, which is great on the bike. Fit is slim, which is nice for layering, but if you are thick around the midsection the interior pockets may feel "tight" when it is new. Chest and hand pockets are all huge, which is great. Jacket is super light, and zipper pulls are well designed and easy to use, with grippy texture. Overall I am very pleased, having gone from a First Ascent coat with a faulty zipper, as the fit and finish of this jacket is far superior. Notes: - Other reviewers have criticized the "large" elasticized cuffs - I like them, as I wear gloves and tuck the gloves inside the coat. Great seal on the cuff of every glove I have worn so far (including light softshell gloves, "lobster-type" three fingered cycling gloves, and OR ski gloves and mittens. - Helmet is adjustable, but even with all the adjustments fully backed off is a bit of a tight fit over my melon head with a helmet on. That being said, it DOES fit, and I have taken advantage of it on the lifts while skiing and while on my bike.

great jacket for layering

Have taken this jacket fishing a few times and exposed it to the elements, rain, snow, high wind, etc.. Actually sheds water quite well for what it is, wind tended to cut through but issue was eliminated by wearing a merino wool base layer. Finds quite well length wise to fit under a rain jacket although the chest is a bit baggy for me as a size L. Contains warmth very well and overall for the cost think it is fantastic value.

Great hoody for the mountain top

5

This is my first down hoody and I bought it despite the fact I already owned a decent MEC primaloft hoody. You just can't beat the weight to warmth ratio that this hoody provides. It's super comfortable, looks great, and fits really well. It'll even zip up into one of the side pockets and transform into a go anywhere pillow. Just prepare yourself for random women to put their hands into your fleece lined pockets! Burnt the inside on a UCO candle (no idea how) but it patched easily with some duct tape : )

Discussions

Hi, I am looking to purchase Men's Transcendent Down Hoody and looking for advice on what size to buy. I am 5'8 and 168lbs. I see that others who are slightly taller and heavier are recommending M. I don't like my jackets too loose and I see that this jacket is a standard fit. I live in NJ where temps can get cold. I would wear a light sweater with this jacket during the winter. With all that said, should I purchase a SM or M. Thank you.,

Orviss

Hi Orviss, We recommend a Medium especially if you have a larger chest and/or shoulders. The sleeves may be a little long, but it the overall fit will be better for your build. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

What is the length of the sleeves for medium and large sizes. I am tall and skinny and normally have problems with sleeves being short.

Grod

Hi Grod, The sleeve length for the Medium is 36" and the Large is 37". Thanks for contacting OR, Paul
