RATING AND REVIEWS

Great Trail Run Shorts!

5

Great for trail runs, short enough to not hinder movement, but long enough to where you don't feel like you;re exposing yourself. The boxer liner is awesome as well.

My new favorite running shorts

I now own 5 pairs of these shorts and want 2 more for every day of the week. Once I got used to the tight fitting inner liner, these shorts are very comfortable and functional for road and trail running. I never have chaffing and they are breathable and dry quickly. The length and style is great for hitting the trail then stopping somewhere to eat or drink and not feeling out of place like with traditional shorty short running shorts.

I saw these on sale and since I love everything OR, I decided to give them a try. I'd be using these about 50/50 in the gym and outside running. I guess I didn't read the reviews carefully enough, but I didn't catch that these had a boxer brief type insert. When I first put these shorts on, I wasn't crazy about the fit due to the underwear insert. It's a pretty thick material and it fits like spandex, which I don't like. It reminded me of a cheap Under Armour boxer brief (the OR Echo boxers have really spoiled me) I really didn't want to hack out the insert, but I finally did and it turned out to be a good decision for me. The only problem is that I didn't like that I was cutting away about 75% of the weight/material from the short. I wonder how much cheaper they would be if the insert was left out in the first place. Once I cut out the underwear from the short, they felt really awesome. They're really light and feel like you're wearing almost nothing and the waist holds really well without feeling tight. That's probably the best thing about these shorts and the only thing that sets them apart from other companies, the waistband and drawstring. It doesn't dig into your skin, but it holds up the shorts really well. It's hard to explain until you try it out. Also, I don't know how OR did it, but when you pull on the drawstring, it stays. Every drawstring I have ever used before, you have to pull it and then try to tie it without losing any slack. OR usually blows aways the competition in everything they make. These shorts don't really do that for me, compared to shorts from other companies (Nike, UA, Adidas, etc.) but they are still really solid and as good, if not a hair better than anything else you'll find.

Not mentioned in the product description is that the back pocket of these shorts will hold an iPhone 6 plus with a case. That alone will make me buy more. These are very comfortable and the inner short prevents chafing. After about a month and a half of use the OR reflective logo on the lower leg has started to peel off. I'm not worried about this just something to note. I have the pewter color and if you are a heavy sweater it will show. I imagine that wouldn't be an issue with the darker colors.

Awesome Running Shorts!

These are my go to trail running shorts! I love them. The length is a little longer than a lot of running shorts, no shorts shorts and that's a good thing. I run trail 3 or more times a week sometimes for a few hours these are my favorite shorts.

just what I was looking for

i was looking for an upgrade in trail running shorts, but didn't want them to be too short. I'm 6'4" with a 34" waist and a size large fit perfectly.

Comfortable running shorts

3

These shorts are very comfortable with a little stretch to them. They have a stretchy boxer insert which I really like. The small zip pocket in the back is barely enough for two gel packets, an ID or car keys. Now for what can be improved: there is a little too much material on the front (or maybe OR athletes are just better endowed than I am...) and my biggest beef is with the charcoal color I bought--they really show sweat and if I go for a long run by the time I get back it looks like I peed my pants. Doesn't affect performance but you do lose style points...

A little all over

!Que Bueno!

Great no frills running / hiking short. Has all the basics and nothing more. Single back pocket is perfect for a handkerchief, dog poo bag, keys or electronic device. The length is just right...not too short and not too long (I'm 6'4"). Very comfortable.

What is the waist size for XL?

Farwest

The waist range for the size XL is 32-42". (It's a range due to the elastic waistband.)
