Nice jacket

Good lightweight softshell jacket with a bit of stretch. I am 6 feet and 175 lbs. Relatively slim but gravity is slowly starting to drag my chest down to the place where my six pack use to live. I bought a size Large and it fits well. And there is still enough room for a bit of lighter weight insulation without stretching the jacket too far. Very nice jacket, I like it.

Great lightweight Jacket, good fit

Nice design, Like the fit in the back with extra length

Would be perfect if fit was consistent

I own the three year old version of Ferrosi Hoody in a size XL, which is too big for me in every way -- chest, sleeve length, even body length. I have only used it over a puffy or fleece because it is so big. I bought the new version in a size large and was surprised at what a huge difference it was from the old version. The new version is skin tight through the body and the sleeves are so short I can't comfortably use the thumb holes. Everything other than the fit is great. It is impossible to believe that and XL (old version) is way too large and that the L in the new version is definitely too small. I am 6'1", 185, with a 33" waist.

This is my second skin.

I am an avid outdoorsman and compete in extreme military survival competitions. These are the best jackets.. ever. The stretchy makes it super comfy. The shell is just the right amount of thickness to be used as a windproof and damp proof layer. It packs up so small I can throw it in my bag all the time. The color selections and fit are perfect. I am 5'10" and athletic build, the medium is perfect for me. OR is setting the standard for outdoor wear these days. This jacket is a must have. My wife and I both wear them. In fact, I don't think I've seen my wife without it on for a year now. Might need to talk to her about that.

Cool in the sun, warm in the cold

I wear this most of the time when instructing groups, looks very professional, but would still wear it to go to town.

So far so good on wear and tear.

I'm a PE Teacher and Im outdoors often. I like the comfort and durability.

Bomber multi-use jacket

I've used one of these for casual day-to-day, in conjunction with a fleece or hoodie for skiing, winter mountaineering, and heavy downpour days here in the Northeast US, and on it's own as a late fall early spring hiking layer. It's never let me down once. Not fully wind or waterproof for sure, but it's perfect for layering and versatile use. I'd buy another if I didn't feel like this thing was going to last me forever!

Nice light jacket!

It's a nice light jacket. I haven't got caught in the rain yet, but I think it would be ok for a light rainfall.

Ferrosi hoodie ROCKS!

Better than the normal hoody for hard use

I owned both this jacket and the normal hoody version. The hoody sleeve cuffs were too loose for me so I went with the summit. I really like the summit. It feels better while wearing. I find that it's my go to jacket in the morning. I have used it in light rain and it did ok but I don't think that any heavy downpour would be as easily brushed off ( off course not this is a softshell ) There are two issues with the jacket but that being said I am quite happy. I find the pocket are weirdly laid out, when wearing a pack they are harder to access. I also would of prefered if they made the chest pockets non napoleon style. I would simply cut out the hand pockets and keep two chest pockets. The other note is that the sleeves are quite wide. When wearing this jacket with just a base layer I notice how thin my arms are. ( I am quite average in my build so I am guessing that they might have planned for many many layers or for really big people ) Overal really like the jacket. Wish that it came in more colours like it's hoody brother.

I am 6'3'' tall, chest 40'' sleeve 35''. Should I get a M or a L?

Hi Hotzi, We'd recommend a Medium if you prefer your clothes to be fitted, it may be a little short in the sleeve, but it won't be as baggy compared to the Large. Thanks for contacting OR,

Hi. I'm 5' 9" tall, 145 pounds, with a 37/38 " chest. Would you recommend a small or medium? Thanks!

Hi Matt, We would recommend a size Small if you prefer your clothes to be fitted, a size Medium if you wanted it looser. Thanks for contacting OR,

What is the length of the sleeve for the size XXL and XL and how it is measured?

Hi markodecaja, The sleeve length for the XL is 36.5" and for the XXL is 37.5". It is measured from the Center Back to center of cuff (straight measurement). Thanks for contacting OR,

I am looking for a jacket with maximum ventilation and breathable with water resistance for hiking and scrambling in the rain. Would the Ferrosi or Valley rain jacket be better for this? Or is there a different product you would recommend?

Hi Robert, The Valley Jacket will not provide the maximum ventilation and breathability due to the materials. However, the jacket is waterproof and it does feature dual separating, TorsoFlo zippers, which if you do get warm or start to sweat you can open up to ventilate. This jacket would be ideal if you plan on using the jacket in extended periods of rain. The Ferrosi Jacket is water-resistant and provides excellent ventilation and breathability, the material is also very soft and lightweight. However, it is not ideal for an extended time (scrambling) in the rain. If you need a water-resistant jacket with more warmth, the Ascendant Jacket is another option. The Polartec Alpha Direct material is a little bit more durable and burlier than the Alpha material so you may have direct-to-skin contact without a layer in between the fabric and skin. This allows and helps move more moisture to the surface of the fabric to wick away moisture. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

How should this jacket be washed/cleaned? Does it have a DWR coating that needs to be reapplied every once in a while? How should softshells be cared for in general?

Hi Caleb, Sorry for the late response. The Men's Ferrosi Hooded Jacket do have a DWR coating that needs to be refreshed occasionally. We recommend either using a small amount of non-detergent soap (or technical wash), and following up with an extra rinse cycle and a low heat tumble dry cycle. We recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash and Softshell Proof, they sell it as a pack (Softshell DuoPack). Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Is the inside of the jacket lined? What is the texture?

The Ferrosi Hooded Jacket is not lined; the fabric feels the same on the outside as it does on the inside. It's a lightweight softshell fabric with a lot of stretch and breathability.

Hey there! I'm just curious if the ferrosi hoody is the same jacket as the jerrosi hooded jacket? I was interested in the ferrosi hoody but it seems to be all out of stock.

The Ferrosi Hooded Jacket is the updated version of the Ferrosi Hoody. The main difference is the construction of the pockets and the cuffs. (The Ferrosi Hooded Jacket has thumb holes at the cuffs; the Ferrosi Hoody doesn't.)
