The pants are awesome!

Fantastic ski pants!

A great all round snow pant

I bought a medium two years ago. Ordered one again but found that the new version was more of a trimfit. Changed them for a large. My waist is 33". It seems I am now in between. Still this is a great all round snow pant.

Durable, Weatherproof, packable

These pants are exactly what you expect them to be. They are wind/water proof and do great at keeping the elements away. I brought these on a snowshoeing backpacking trip and upon trying them on, they were a little too snug and a little too warm for active movement. I wore my normal hiking pants with base layer while moving, and switched to these in camp. They were very warm down to about 15 Degrees, without base layers. These would be PERFECT for skiing/snowboarding, and I will get a lot of use out of them in severe weather. If I lose about 10lbs they wll be very suitable for hiking/snowshoeing in extreme cold.

Let's Shred

I like these pants. I am 5'11" and roughly 200lbs with a 33" waist. I went with the large pants after reading many reviews. They are a good fit with room to layer underneath.

Love the pants, hate the fit

These pants are great! The only bad thing I can say is the fit sucks! I generally wear a medium but the crotch area in these will rip if you are climbing/skinning strap terrain. And the waist is ridiculously tight. They really just missed the sizing on these all together. My medium trailbreaker paints fit perfectly, so perhaps I'm wishing they used a similar cut. I ended up going with a large instead but have to wear suspenders with them or they will literally fall to my ankles. The crotch issue is corrected with sizing up though. I just wish the waist tensioner would actually allow you to tighten them. The fix for me is to adjust the length of the tensioner and use the large size for comfort and long term durability. My actual measurements for reference are a 33" waist and 33" inseam.

What happened to the fit?

I have an older version of the Blackpowder pants and loved them. I wore them hard and they stood up to the test. This new pair looks like it has the same durability but I the cut is WAY off and they are almost unwearable. If I wear the pants where I normally wear pants I will split the crotch if I spread my legs too much. If I wear the pants jacked up high on my waist this goes away but I can't use the fly. It feels like the sizing is way off and the whole crotch area is messed up. I suspect I will blow out the crotch in a few months which is a shame.

Great ski pants!!

I ski 5-7 days a week in the East so conditions change frequently. These pants are great! They keep me warm and dry even on the worst days. There is no going inside or calling it quits so I need gear that goes the distance. These pants do just that. My only issue is with the zippers on the outside of the thigh; they get caught on everything and it is only a matter of time before there will be damage to the pants. My other OR pants have the zipper on the inside of the thigh which is a much better placement.

Hesitation eliminating is the perfect description

I have used these pants for everything from long walks through the woods with the dog to skiing up here in Alaska and they are fantastic. They keep up well and don't restrict movement all while keeping my base layers bone dry. 5'11 180 and got the medium. A bit snug around the waist but not problematic at all.

Awesome pants! (Sizing a little off)

The pants are awesome ane very well built. The sizing guide was off a bit. I am 5'9" 165 and I ordered the medium. I couldn't get them over my butt and waist. The large fits and feels a lot better.

For my first set of true ski pants I really like these. Stayed warm with level2 leggings on underneath. Tricot feels soft underneath. Great mobility too. Made my own suspenders. I had the medium size at fists and had to send back for a large. I do wear a 32/34 pant but that makes no sense to be trying to ski in the same size waist so maybe buy one size up.

Do they still have the knee pad pocket?

Stardude, our blackpowder II pants do not have an option for an integrated knee pad
