Awesome for Spring Skiing and Iceland!

The pants are lightweight and comfortable and perfect for spring skiing!!! I also took them on a recent trip to Iceland and wore them almost every day. Their waterproof yet breathable qualities makes them perfect for inclement weather. I highly recommend them. They feel true to size.

Incredible pants

Perfect pant for hicking, everyday use or whatever you wanna do with it

Awesome pants! Incredible warranty

I got these pants with a warranty credit, these pants are exactly what i was looking for articulated softshell pants ready to go thru any type weather. Feels heavy duty but not bulky. Really comfy. On top of the high quality product you get an incredible warranty! I had an issuse with some other pants and OR took no time to resolve that issue! I am impress by the outstanding consumer service they offer! Looking foward to buy more gear from OR in the future! So satisfied

Would recommend

love these pants, they breath good and shed snow. The fit is great for me, 5'8" 145lbs, not too long, not too baggy. Only improvement could maybe make the pockets larger and add some leg zips for shedding heat.

Great for active mountain pants

I've had a pair of these for about 3 seasons. I've tended to often leave them at home in place of my hard-shells, but recently completed the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt over 8 LONG consecutive days of touring and mountaineering and decided to go with these for the stretch, comfort, and breathability. They performed fantastically for this purpose. They're definitely not designed for super cold days, sitting on chairlifts, or rain; but when moving far and fast, these were great. Not wind-proof, but resistant enough, not water-proof, but fine in snow or a light shower. I wore these over a mid-weight smartwool layer and when moving, they were great to the low teens in temps and perfectly fine in heavy wind. I highly recommend for an active pant. Pack these with a pair of waterproof Helium pants for when weather takes a harsh turn and you're golden.

Good but not great

I bought these for snowboarding as the fall into the category when selecting ski/snowboarding. In dry snow, these pants work great. Combined with a base layer, they are warm and comfortable. I really like the adjustable waistband and the suspenders. They have plenty of zippered pockets and zippered vents. However, these are not the pants for spring skiing. I was in Tahoe last weekend where it was a mixture of snow and wet snow. Within an hour, I was soaked through from butt to knee, mostly I think from sitting on a wet chair lift. I was expecting more out of these pants. I've owned a number of different brands throughout the years and never had pants that soaked through. They are great for dry snow but I'll be looking for a new pair next year that performs better than these.

Super All-Season Alpine Pants

The best alpine pants I've ever owned. Warm enuff for winter snowshoeing or xc skiing. Breathable enuff for milder spring/summer action. Super durable. Highly weather resistant. Only problem: I'm sized out of these pants, so can't get a new pair. I've had the Medium for couple years. My waist size is maxed out on the Medium now. I'm pretty average build, 6ft and 185lbs. Large would be a great replacement for my now expanded waist, but when I tried them on, even though a one inch difference in inseam length, they were ground scuffing. Wish OR made sizing such that you could get them in Short, Regular, or Long lengths, like other vendors do. A Large Regular would probably be the perfect fit. As it is, my all time favorite alpine pant is no longer an option and I'll have to look elsewhere for a product with more sizing choices.

Decent all around pant, not great at anything in particular

Decent pants, comfortable, but not great as a ski pant as they don't seem to have much water resistance. I've used these pants for backcountry and inbounds, and purchased them at the beginning of this season, with only 3-4 washes. During my first inbounds use during active snowfall, it took no time at all for the material covering the thighs to saturate. This was very disappointing. Otherwise, I like the fit and comfort, but I can't recommend them as pants suitable for skiing.

I wear these snow shoeing, cross country skiing, backcountry skiing and cold weather hiking. Super comfortable and incredibly durable. Im on my third year, maybe my fourth. Ive easily worn these over 100 days of activity. They look like the day I bought them. Not too warm, not too cold. On a really cold day throw a pair of Alpine Onset bottoms underneath and taunt the cold temps. Windproof, highly water resistant. Fast wicking. When the apocalypse hits, if I can only have one pair of pants, these will be my choice. I even wore them a few days of carpentry in winter. My wife says my back melons look great in them.

Comfortable and durable

Pants are great. Used it during wildlife fieldwork in early spring and they were exactly what I wanted: lightweight, durable, windproof and a great active pant. I am 6ft and 34 waist and wear a large. Only downside for non-skiing is that the cuffs are designed to be wider to fit over large boots so they feel a bit big with shoes or hiking boots. Minor issue. Will buy these again

I am 6'4" with a 32" waist and 34-36" inseam, will large be too baggy in the waist?

The size large would be a bit baggy in the waist, but you can use the velcro side tabs to synch it down as needed, the issue is your inseam as the cirques all listed as a 33" inseam which might be to short for your needs unless you are wearing ski or mountaineering boots.

Hi, what are specs for XXL size?

Hi Steven, A size XXL has a 42" waist, a 50" low hip measurement, and an inseam of 35". Thank for contacting OR,

I can't tell from your sizing whether I take a medium or small in this alpine pants. I want them for snow shoeing, light mountain climbling(18000 and below), tough, light weight, warm, but with good ventilation if exertion climbing, resistant to crampon cuts, flexible, and water and wind resistant. Any recommendations are welcome- please. These pants are for a male who is 5'7 and 150 lbs and has short legs with an inseam of 29 inches and waist of 32.

Hi Gary, A size Small has a waist measurement of 30" and increases 3" for each additional size up. The inseam measurement for a size Small is 31 and increases 1" for each additional size up. Based on your waist measurement we would recommend a size Medium. The pants have adjustable tabs at the waist or you may use a belt if the pants if there is too much room in the waist. If you needed an insulated version of this pant, consider the Alpenice Pants. Thanks for contacting OR,

What is the waist size of size small?

Hi Victor, The waist size is 30" for a Small, and increases 3" for each additional size up. Thanks for contacting OR,

How should these pants be washed/cleaned? Do they have a DWR coating that needs to be refreshed every now and then?

Hi Caleb, Sorry for the late response. The Cirque pants do have a DWR coating that needs to be refreshed occasionally. We recommend either using a small amount of non-detergent soap (or technical wash), and following up with an extra rinse cycle and a low heat tumble dry cycle. We recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash and Softshell Proof, they sell it as a pack (Softshell DuoPack). Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

On the website, sizes are listed as S, M, L, XL. However, the Size and Fit Guide at the bottom of the page lists measurements in inches or centimeters. If I have a 36" waist and a 32" inseam, which size would you recommend I order?

Bob Labrie

Hi Bob, I would go with the Large. A size Large has a 36" waist and a 33" inseam measurement. If you needed more room to accommodate layering, a size XL has a 39" waist and 34" inseam. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

I'm a 33" waist, 30" inseam. Should I buy a large?

You're on the lower end of size Large, but you can use the velcro tabs on the sides to adjust the waist to fit.
