RATING AND REVIEWS

Pretty and warm

So far, these mitts have been perfect. Not had the chance to test them in extreme cold weather yet, but have kept my hands warm for many hours around 0 degrees. And I love the colors !

They seem like what I expected. I'll know more during 2020 ski season.

Warm and toasty mitts!

You under 15-degree mitts. These have been a life-saver this year in Colorado. They can feel a little bulky with the ski poles, but the adjustment is quick. These are super warm and easy to pull over your jacket gauntlet style, if you will. On SUPER cold days you can add hand warmers, but I haven't needed to yet even in -10 degree temps.

They passed the sub-zero test

Broke these Mitts out this past weekend skiing Bridger Bowl. Temperature ranged -10 to -8 degrees (F). Used a thin merino wool liner, one hand warmer, and stayed comfortable all day. For me, they run a little larger than my last XL mitts (non- OR), but not so much that it affect their ability to retain heat.

Chronically cold lady finally has warm hands

5

Cold lady here checking in! I have terrible, terrible circulation in my fingers and toes (I suspect Raynaud's syndrome or something similar) and have never not been cold skiing in gloves, no matter the temperature. My hands were actually sweaty in these with no liners on a 30 degree day. With liners, I stay warm below freezing, which is seriously unheard of (for me). As others have noted, the sizing is unisex, and they do feel a bit long despite having sized down. I have a bit more difficulty getting my hands into the straps on my ski poles than in my regular gloves. But it's definitely worth it for the warmth!

Great Mitts for Cold Powder Days

5

Used these gloves recently for a snowy day skiing in Tahoe. They worked great, kept my hands warm and dry. Temps were between 12-16 throughout the morning, and it was windy and snowy all day (so much so that only 1/4 of the lifts were open, and the resort had to close at 1pm). Would recommend these. Didn't seem too bulky. Really like the cuffs that keep them attached when I take them off.

Well designed, but a bit bulky

I love the southback mitts, but a few notes: Should be worn with liner gloves! Not as warm as they look because of the way they fit -- its a nice thing to have some room in the glove but these are a bit bulky. Also, the sizing is UNISEX sizing so I had to return the first pair thinking they were womens -- my mistake but don't make the same one :) These gloves have been great so far. I ride at Baker and they are staying nice and waterproof so far. Not so warm that they can't be worn on a regular 30 degree Baker day, but easy to put liner gloves into for when its 10 degrees outside. Have to take them off frequently to do anything detailed, but the cuffs make this SUPER reasonable. They are my new dailies :)

Do these mittens have glove/finger liners - or mitten liners?

Evan

the southback mitts have a mitt interior

Q&A_Admi

Two Questions - My hands are wider than long. I have a 8.5 circ. and a 7 length. Should I get the Medium or large? Also - I'm getting this as a Christmas gift so I wont be able to try them on till Christmas... which is over 30 days away. Can I still return them after Christmas (If they are the wrong size) or should I wait and buy them in Dec?

Eric

Hi Eric, We would recommend going with the Large due to your hand circumference measurement. With excess fabric in the fingers you may have difficulty with grip or grasping items, but if the gloves/mitts are too narrow across the knuckles it would restrict movement/dexterity. You may return the mitts after the holiday season. Thanks for contacting OR,

Paul

How to measure

Measure around a flat hand at the knuckles,do not include your thumb. Also measure your hand length from the base of your palm to the end of your middle finger. Use the larger of the two measurements to select your glove size.
