RATING AND REVIEWS

Didn't fit.

1

I like the features of this jacket, but the fit is truly weird. The sleeves are just WAY too long. I have long arms, and I thought after reading other comments about the long arms, they would be fine for me who normally has trouble with sleeve length. But they were all the way to the tips of my fingers. Sure, one could cinch up the cuff, but then all the extra fabric is in folds/wrinkles on the lower arm. I don't find that a positive. Also, the hip measurement is just not women-specific. Almost all women have wider hips than their comparable-sized man. This jacket seems made for a man's measurements. I wanted to love it. I truly did. But I sent it back.

Beautiful jacket, extremely uncomfortable

Loved the look and fit, but the hem-to-bicep pit zips are too stiff and rub terribly under the arm, even when wearing a thick sweater. Wore it once and am stuck with a very expensive shell that looks great in the closet.

It looks a lot better in person than on the internet

Bought a large, 5.9ft, 145lb. I bought this knowing it will fit large but I already have a shell that is smaller and wanted something that will fit puffies and more layers underneath. The large size does not bother me, it's a longer in the body, longer in the sleeves, and much more room for a bigger puffy than my medium Patagonia spring shell. It is also a thicker material which is great for colder days. I love the colours, I haven't played around with the side zips yet but they will come in handy on longer ski days. I have so far only worn it as a traveler and around town and one day in the backcountry which was a stormy day and it held up no problem. It was nice to have a thicker jacket on instead of my old Patagonia one.

Totally Awesome!!!

I haven't taken this jacket or the Skyward II pants out for their main "intended use" yet (skiing), but I totally loved wearing both for snowmobiling the last couple days!! I think the jacket performance and fit are both GREAT. The shell was awesome in bluebird weather conditions and in cold, wet snowy whiteout. It felt good during high-output and standing around on breaks. I think the fit is great for someone intending to use the jacket in a range of weather and output conditions. I appreciate the extra space for range of motion and layer accommodation. I am 5'4" with broader shoulder/chest area. I used the size chart and went with a medium. The jacket is a bit baggy when I'm just wearing a lightweight underlayer (as other reviewers have mentioned). BUT that means it has room to comfortably fit a puffy under it when conditions get colder or when I stop moving, and my range of motion was never compromised. What's the point of a cold-weather shell if you can't fit cold-weather layers under it? Contrary to other reviewers, I had no issues with the sleeves feeling too long (there is velcro to hold them in place and the extra length was perfect for when my puffy was underneath). I also love that the hood has a semi-rigid brim that actually seems to work. I can't vouch for ski-helmet compatibility in the field (just in my house) since snowmobile helmets are the size of a small moon, but I do really like the semi-rigid brim on the hood-- it feels a bit stiffer and wider than the one on my (older) Aspire shell. The only thing I kind of wish was different are the waist-level pocket placements; I wish they were slightly higher to be more waistbelt/harness friendly, but it's very far from a dealbreaker. THANK YOU OR for making a killer shell!!

Great Jacket

Love the jacket, great pockets, great fit. It is a bit too bulky for stuffing in my pack, but I loved it on an all-day back country ski in Yellowstone. Love the side vent zippers. Will use it this winter, happily.

Nice jacket, terrible fit

2

I really wanted to like this jacket, but the arms are long and the fit is baggy! It fits my husband better than it fits me, although a little tight in the chest for him. I love OR and wish this jacket was my new go-to, but it sits in the closet because it is such an awkward baggy fit!

Off fit but solid jacket

I've taken this jacket out touring and to the resort now. The jacket itself is great and I like how you can vent it. That said...the fit is just weird. The waist fits like a men's jacket (no hips for the ladies?) And the sleeves ARE long like previous reviewers have said (I have a 6 ft wing span though so I'm making it work).

New favorite ski jacket

Packs down in your pack when the weather is good and fits over every layer you have when the weather is turns. I love the side zips to ventilate when working hard. The sleeves and body are long enough. Very waterproof and Greta for all outdoor activities.

Great outer layer

As others mentioned the sleeves are a bit long and bulky. But that does not outweigh the good features. This jacket is lightweight and not loud and crinkly like other hard shells. Plus lots of pockets!

Annoying underarm zipper

3

I don't notice crazy-long arms as others have mentioned, but the ventilation zipper by my left armpit rubs against the main part of the coat every time I move my arm. It is so annoying. There's this feeling that something is catching all the time. I wore it snowboarding for the first time today and have no other big complaints. I do wish there was an inside zippered pocket though. Not love at first wear.
