Pertex® Quantum Pro provides beefy durability on the shoulders, sleeves, and hood, while the lighter-weight body traps the insulating powers from 800-fill responsibly sourced down in a baffled construction that eliminates the cold spots notorious to fully-quilted jackets. Brimming with feature-packed details like Dynamic Reach™ Underarm Panels, elastic drawcord hem and cuffs, pocket placements that don't interfere with your harness, and a helmet-compatible halo hood, the Alpine Down doesn't compromise on functionality, or exceptional warmth.

RATING AND REVIEWS

Love how warm this jacket is!

5

I use this jacket for winter adventures in Northern Canada and it always keeps me warm! It's perfect for longer adventures since it packs down so small.

Very warm which is what I was looking for. It looked more fitted in the online pic than it actually is. Not a big deal but worth mentioning

Made for real winter weather

Bought this intending to use as my everyday winter jacket here in NW Montana. Its the real deal. To puffy and warm for everyday. Better for hut ski trips, ice climbing, etc. I sent it back and got a Transcendent Hoodie instead. In short, If you are standing around in the cold arctic air, this is your jacket. If your hiking to the bar after a day of skiing, its overkill.

I fear the cold and it kept me toasty -runs a bit big

Great coat! Totally covers your butt. Yay! Brought it for late fall (Oct -Nov) canyon backpacking and it kept me nice and warm. It runs a bit large even with layering underneath. I would have probably sent it back for a medium, but didn't have time. (For reference - I have bought a Large and I had bought a large OR deviator hoody earlier this season. While I realize these are supposed to be different fits (standard and trim respectively) - even my co-workers giggled at how big my puffy coat was on me. The deviator is just the right size and snug as I would expect a trim fit and the alpine coat I swim in a bit even with layers underneath. I am about 5'2" 145 and a 44 c/d. Also, the coat seems fairly water resistant as I was doing some trip clean up in the cold and got the sleeves fairly wet while washing down gear and it never soaked through or got cold. Great weight and compactable for backpacking. Also, I don't think the description mentions it, but the hand pockets do have some lining in them for warmth as well. Bonus!

Love this jacket so hard

I researched so many down jackets before I purchased this one from OR. I even bought a Northface jacket and returned it because it was ill fitting. This coat came pdq and it was love at first sight. I wanted a lightweight but warm jacket for walking the dog, doing errands around town and for traveling. This jacket does it all. I live in Boston and already its been in the 20s and the jacket is toasty. The sleeves are made of slighty more rugged material than the body-which is a likely spot for a snag. The zipper is easy, the pockets are easily accessible and fleecey inside. There are big pockets inside for mittens or a hat too. I travel during the holidays and it's freezing here and hot there so I dont want to lug a big heavy coat on the plane. This coat weighs nothing and will make a nice pillow. Buy this coat - you wont regret it.

So excited about this jacket

I am looking forward to putting this jacket to the test! The fabric changes to a more durable nylon on the sleeves. Fit is perfect, can layer a fleece underneath. It is super warm with lots of loft in the down. Long enough that it covers my bum (I'm 5'6" and ordered a Med). You can roll it under if you want it to be shorter during activity. Love the blue color. My only complaint would be to have a bit darker lining than the winter white.

Warm and puff-ayyy!

I got this jacket for Vermont winters and it is great! I can wear it all the time. Super warm. Got stuck at a bus station for hours in 20 degree weather. Everyone was freezing but I was totally fine! Usually I am always cold but this jacket does a real good job actually. It is bulkier than I imagined but it's easy enough to move in. Can't complain. I'm 5'5 120 lbs and the small is a little big. If I could redo it I would get an xs

Lightweight and warm, good use of fabric where it counts

Picked this up for the GF, really happy with it so far. The weight to warmth ratio seems superb. It will be a great jacket for the snowy alpine environment. I wouldn't rely on it as strictly a hardshell for torrential water precip, but it looks like it will handle some moisture, light rain, and snow precipitation. The use of pertex fabric on the sleeves and shoulder is great and will hold up for a while i think. It looks like a really cozy jacket and packs down pretty well.

Very warm light jacket

Got this for my girlfriend as she is always cold and has to ware so many heavy layers she can't move. Finally something she stays warm in that doesn't weight a ton!

Cozy Coat in the Hills

5

This is a great cozy coat for all adventures in the hills. It is super warm and a great puffy that packs down small in your pack for ski touring adventures, fall climbing trips, and just longer days in the alpine. The size is great and pockets are conveniently placed for all your things. This is the layer I have been hoping for from OR! Thank you!
