The Cirque pants have been my solid, reliable, workhorse mountaineering pants for many years. As a guide on Mt. Rainier, I have spent many days in these pants and continue to love them for their functionality, durability, and good fit. They are best paired with long underwear in the winter or for ice climbing, worn alone for spring or early to mid-summer mountaineering or alpine climbing. Later in the summer, they can sometimes be too warm for lower elevations, but are still the pant of choice above 10,000'. I am 5' 8", about 145 lbs and though svelte, have some pretty serious glutes and hammies from all that uphill travel. The Cirque are not baggy in fit for me, but they are not too tight. I appreciate that they have both belt loops and side Velcro straps, so that I can choose whether to wear a belt or not. They fit well under a harness, with good-sized zippered pockets that are easily accessible, especially the leg pocket. The ankle zippers allow the pants to fit over large mountaineering boots, and zip up to keep the ankle profile clean for ice climbing. There are grommet holes at the cuff that allow you to build a cord stirrup if wanted. Because of all these functionalities, these pants are a key part of my mountain kit.

I wanted these pants too work, but they are way, way too long. I'm 5'4" and 115 lb. I've seen reviews on other sites that say the same thing. Why not make a short, regular, and tall option? Not all women are one-size-fits-all 5'7". In fact, most of us are not. I love the durable fabric on these, the large pockets, and especially the cinch waistband to get a secure fit around my waist. But the reinforced knee part of the pants are BELOW my knee because that's how long these pants are. Unfortunately I'll have to return these and keep searching for softshell pants that fit--unless OR starts offering various length options (PLEASE?!).

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

I love these pants! They are super stretchy, comfortable, and durable and you can wear them for long days in the mountains! I wore them for a weeklong alpine climbing trip and they didn't disappoint! I also wear them for winter or cold hiking, as well as skinning. They run a little long, which is perfect for fitting them over ski boots! If you are looking for a great winter/spring hiking pant, look no further!

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

I have worn these pants for over 10 days of ice climbing, and they have served me well! They are tough, warm, and shed water nicely. I love the built in gaters with the cinch cord. It means I don't get snow in my boots and that I'm not stepping on the bottom of my pant legs when I'm inside. I am 5'4" and 130 lbs and am glad I went with a small. I would love if OR would have different length options for those of us with shorter legs.

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

Whatever the winter activity, these pants are amazing. I've worn them skiing, xc skiing, and taken them on work trips into the backcountry of Yellowstone in winter. In all instances they perform perfectly and have held up well to the abuse I put them through. If OR still made them with an option for 'long' sizes, I would buy another pair in a heartbeat.

I love these pants! I use them for winter biking, the trim fit and side pocket make them perfect for this. I'm also on my third winter using them and they're still going strong.

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

These pants are amazing and many people I know wear them for all of their mountaineering and spring skiing adventures. While it is an issue to be shorter than 5'6", I have a solution! I have had 3 pairs already, and I take them to a place in a mall where they hem pants. I asked them to just make a fold in the fabric below the knee and stitch it. They matched the thread to the pants' existing thread, and unless you look really close, you would never know they have been altered, and they fit perfectly now. Best part, it only cost $15 per pair, totally worth it!!!

    Superb lightweight ski/ snowshoe/winter pants/ sz Small

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

I purchased this pant in Dec 2014 and have used them for 1.5 seasons so far. These are the nicest, lightweight, comfortable, well-fitting ski pants I have every owned. I used them for nordic skiing, snowshoeing, winter walks in cold weather, and backcountry skiing when the weather is warm. I am 5'5", 128 lbs and the size Small fits perfectly with some length to spare. The cinch cords on the bottom and hook to connect to boots are great. Waist is really comfortable with velcro tabs on side for adjustment. My husband also owns this pants and loves them as well.

Another great product! If only I could choose my inseam...

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

I usually have a hard time finding pants that fit (as we all do I'm sure). I am 5'4" tall and 145 lbs. I have relatively bigger thighs and bottom, so often pants are tight in those places but too large around my waist. However OR pants generally fit me great. The size 6 in the voodoo pants is perfect, and I fall right between a Small and Medium in the Cirques. However, with the adjustable waist belt snugged up a bit the Mediums are perfect. Except... they are definitely way too long. I usually a 30" inseam, so I didn't think the 30.5" inseam on these (according to their size chart) would be too bad. However, because of the stiff scuff guard at the bottom, they bunch up quite a lot around my lower shin. Enough so that I am concerned about walking with crampons on. I am hoping it will help as they soften up a bit over time, but right now (new) they look and feel weird around my lower leg. I even tried them on with ski boots and mountaineering boots and the added height didn't help much.
I bought these pants to have something warmer than the voodoo weight softshells, so I was a bit disappointed that they feel pretty thin. However, my boyfriend has had these pants for a few months and wore them a lot ski touring and ski mountaineering, and said he was surprised at how warm they are. Probably because they block the wind pretty well.
Overall, I think they are great pants and am excited to have them. I love that all the pockets zip, the adjustable waist, the horizontal thigh pocket (the men's version zips vertically which causes some problems when putting in/taking out items), the bomber scuff guard, and overall comfort and attention to stitching details to allow freedom of movement.

Comments about OR Women's Cirque Pants:

I've had these pants for over two and a half years now, they're in great shape and I still love them. I looked everywhere and tried on a dozen soft-shell pants to find a pair that had a nice fit and thoughtful functions. I'm a petite active woman with a small waist so it was nearly impossible to find my fit/size. The velcro waistband makes the fit perfect. The pants are quite flattering and very comfortable - I was dry/warm/cool as needed. So far, I've used them for skiing, fall/winter hikes in the Pacific Northwest and multiday treks in the Andes. Easy to add a layer underneath. The zippered bottom is great so I can fit it over my ski boots and I like the little bootlace hooks for my hiking boots. I really like the side thigh pocket! It is so accessible and I keep my maps or anything else I need to access often or quickly. Try these pants, I think you'll really enjoy them.
