Feels so good to wear

I wear it almost every day in the summer

Purchase as a gift and my wife loves it

Used at camping in a windy and raining weather and she felt warm and dry

Love this everything coat

I love this layer. I wear it daily. Helps fight off the morning chill in the summer and a great layer for the shoulder seasons! I wear a size Large in most brands and a size Large fits great. It is an active fit.

My favorite!!

I love this!! Great to wear as a layer and also super cute to wear anywhere when you are in town!!

The Deviator is one of the best things I own.

I marked this true to size, but really I had to order up. I like having this a little baggy. The large was tight in my chest and the sleeves were not very long. I'm 5'4 and go between a large and xl in OR stuff because I have a bigger bust and am curvy. The XL fits me perfectly. This jacket has too many great uses...Nordic skiing, running, hiking..I've been wearing it as a jacket to work this spring (in Alaska). I love the color.

I like it I love it I want some more of it.

I bough this as a cross country ski jacket and have been really impressed so far! It is really comfortable for starters and has just enough warmth while still being a very light layer. It breaths well and the zipper chest pocket is large enough for my phone and keys. I'll be definetly choosing this for upcoming spring hiking. The only thing I suggest with this is to wear a short sleeve or tank top underneath because the sleeves are a tighter fitting stretchy material and I found it a bit bunchy (which I hate) with a long sleeve underneath. Overall I'm really happy with it :)

The first time I wore this jacket I was running on a snow covered trail in Chicago. I only had a turtleneck base-layer underneath in 27* wheather. I was out for 2.5 hours and warm as could be. I could have stayed outside for another 3 hours! Oh, for reference I am 5'6" 148 lbs, athletic built, DD top and the large fits great, with room to layer. In fact, I love this jacket so much I ordered another one and the hoody vest.

Surprised how much I like it

I struggled over getting this - just seemed like I could wear a vest with a shirt and achieve the same results. But for some reason this is cozier and warmer than a vest with a shirt. It keeps my chest warmer and out of the wind while my arms can breathe, and the chest part seems to breathe well too. I absolutely love this piece, it's my new favorite midlayer replacing a heavier full zip soft shell. IT is super comfy and light and not nearly as bulky as my previous midlayer. On a cold day I add a wool T-neck underneath it but on most days a lightweight crewneck is fine. Love the hood, it's plenty big yet doesn't impede vision. A couple issues are that when you go up a size in OR, you gain length, longer sleeves and a bigger chest, you just never gain width. I really should wear a large, but it was too short for wearing with a pack and a little snug around the hips. So I went to an XL and it didn't really get that much wider, mostly just longer (which I liked) and bigger in the chest (which I don't need.) It seems like the large and XL OR models are skinny with big breasts! Please just make the Larges a little longer and wider so it works for a greater variety of female shapes. The only other suggestion would be to add a slot for headphone cords to go through in the chest pocket and zippers on the lower pockets would be nice, although I don't use those pockets that much. Everyone needs a deviator hoody!

Don't buy - easily rips

I bought a new one in October and by February it looked frayed at every seam and a hole appeared in one of the front panels. I wrote to OR and they replaced it. However, on the first day of wearing the new one, with only my cell phone and car fob (no metal key) in my pockets for a few hours, the jacket had not one but two holes appear in the front panels, just like my first one. The materials used for this jacket are not of high quality and I'll be returning both at once and asking for a different jacket or my money back. It looks and feels like a great jacket, and I'll admit it is a great shell, if it lasted longer than a few hours to a few months. For the price there are definitely better jackets out there.

nice hoody

I have enjoyed this hoody since I purchased. The puffy body part is not quite as thick as I was anticipating, which I actually find I do not mind. It makes it a nice streamlined piece for layering. One of my biggest pet peeves with hoods is that they are restrictive when they are up, but this one seems to allow for full mobility of my head and neck even when zipped. The black puff is a lot shinier than advertised, which seems to be the case with a lot of OR merchandise, and the fabric around the zippered pocket on the outside of the jacket is actually quite a light grey, whereas in the picture it looks to blend with the black puff. If you do not mind these aesthetic discrepancies, you will surely enjoy this jacket. Regardless of the aesthetics it is soft and cozy, I did not find the sleeves too short or the shoulders restrictive, and it is long enough without being in the way.
