Great Desert Hoody

5

I had moved to Santa Clarita California where it's desert condition being a cool 45F in the mornings and 80s-90s in the afternoon. I run in the mornings to avoid the sun and heat which can get pretty cold in the mid-40s. It's a great soft and lightweight outer layer with thumb hooks for running during those cold mornings. Then in the mid-mornings to noon, I'm sun protected and won't get sun burnt. Being from Seattle, I'm still not use to so much sun and get sun burnt easily. I run 8 to 16 miles weekly. I ordered a small which fit perfectly; I'm 5'3" and 107lbs. It would be nice to have another pocket, so I can stash snacks or sunglasses.

Perfect for Summer Outdoor Activities

This is a great layer for outdoor activities in summer when you want to be outside but not get fried by the sun. Lightweight so you don't overheat and stylish.

Exceeded my expectations

I bought this top to help block the sun during a 5 day sea kayaking trip in Baja. Not only was it comfortable, it functioned perfectly. I was able to put the hood up underneath my big straw hat to keep the sun off my neck and face. The fabric dried quickly after repeated splashes from my paddle. I wore it 5 days in a row and it managed to hold its shape and resist odors. It was cool on my skin as the temps reached into the 80's. I highly recommend this top as a comfortable alternative to sun screen and for any water-based adventures!

Amazing! Highly recommended by ME!

I LOVE this hoody. I used it over and over again during an 8 month trip in various climates and conditions in Latin America. I used it while hiking, climbing, backpacking, travel, running, checking out the jungle etc! The sun protection that it gives is stellar, and it was a perfect light layer in chilly weather. It also looks cute enough to wear with jeans and a scarf, which is awesome for travel when you have limited space. The microbial protection in the fabric worked great, and even after wearing it so much, it smells fresh and clean.

Go-to Favorite

5

I have worn this hoody every weekend since I got it. Great on sunny days to keep from getting burned, great on cool days as an extra layer, great paddling because it deals well with moisture. It's small and light enough to be the perfect layer tucked away in a day pack. The little pocket and thumb loops are convenient. The only negative is that when the hood is down, its weight pulls the v-neck up into your throat. This doesn't happen with a pack or life vest on, though, and is easily remedied by pulling it back down in the front.

Versatile top: Travels well and brightens up a wardrobe

4

I almost returned this item because I wasn't a fan of the fit at first, and I was looking for a semi-casual top that could go over my button down work shirts. This item didn't work for that (OR's Vanquish pullover is perfect, though), but the Ensenada is a good top for hiking in in cold weather, wearing around the marina (where it's usually a few degrees cooler than in town) and bike commuting. I also brought it with me on vacation this summer -- it was great in LA in April (when it's just barely cool in the morning), San Fran in July, and central Washington in September. The side zip pocket is nice for my phone, since most of my hiking/biking clothes don't have great pockets and I like to have my phone handy for photos. The pink color is very bright, but it's a fun addition to my muted colors wardrobe. I just started using it as a fall layer under a denim jacket, and it looks pretty good!
