Great for climbing

These pants are my uniform for guiding but I love them so much I bought more so as to not ruin my uniform. I like them because they are loose enough that I can fit running shorts under them. They stretch really well and don't get torn easily climbing limestone. They look nice if you have to go to a restaurant in them. They are very breathable and I never overheat in them.

Best Darn Pants You Can Own Bar One Thing

4

I have had a couple pairs of these pants for a while now and they are great! They are the most lightweight, most breathable, least crotch-sweaty pants that I have owned. A few things though: 1. They fit big. I originally ordered a 10 but reordered an 8 (I am 5'6, 140 lbs). I like to have a bit of extra room in the butt and the legs for my biking muscles and the 8 has plenty. I would recommend ordering a size down from your normal one. 2. The material eventually wears down. The pair that I have been rocking for over a year now definitely have some wear on the lightweight fabric. There are a number of snags and areas where the material has become rougher and 'looks worn'. I might have been able to avoid this had I hand-washed them or avoided dumping them in the washer with things with velcro. I'm all about function over fashion so it doesn't bug me, but be warned. The pockets are well placed, although the front ones could be a bit deeper. I have tried a number of 'women's' hiking pants (I use quotations because they don't seem like they were designed by a woman!) and these sit on my waist in the right place, they give me space for my butt and leg muscles and are the right length. I like 'em- you might too!

Cute fit, pills after one wash

1

I found these pants on a climbing trip in Squamish in merlot color and knew that I immediately wanted them. I asked my husband to put them on my Christmas list and was happy to find them under the tree. Unfortunately, after a single wash, the pants began to pill. My friend has the capri version and hers have crazy little balls sticking out all over them, so I know mine are only going to get worse. Such a shame, because they are comfy, cute and functional but very shoddy quality. These aren't cheap pants, but they look cheap after a few wears.

Finally a fabric that doesn't pill ( as in Columbia ). Everything I've purchased from OR has been amazing. My recent pants and shorts went with me to the OSA Peninsula, Costa Rica where I climbed, hiked, walked, kayak, and hung out in the Rainforest. I was sweaty, wet, stinky, dirty, and through all of that for 10 days and my clothes stayed dry and comfortable. I hand washed them several times and hung them out to dry. My next trip there ( soon I hope ), the only clothing I will take will be Outdoor Research. I do wish they would make more basic shirts and pullover dresses. 😘😘😘

Only pants I need!

5

I put a pair on in the morning and they are worn all day, every day. If I need to clean up for an after work event, I change my top and shoes and VOILA....Im no longer casual! They look good with anything, anywhere! I recommend to all my friends and family.

Ferrosi Pants

3

I got these pants hoping to use them on a backpacking trip in Peru. They seemed to have all the features I wanted. They were just too long! If I synched the bottom up they became kind of balloon-like around my ankle and it seemed clown-ish. The pants fit cute everywhere else but I just couldn't deal with how much material pooled down at my ankles. I'm 5'4" so maybe I need a shorter version?? disappointed - sent them back.

Super comfy

So far I've used this pant for hiking and work. Its very comfortable. It stretches out a bit but has a waist that fits me well. It's also pretty light fabric, so great for summer/warm temps, maybe not for an extended alpine climb.

How's the stretch? Looking for a rock climbing pant.

Kel

Hi Kel, These pants have a good amount of stretch, I use them for various activities. I'd say they would be great for rock climbing as they are lightweight and breathable. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Could you please tell me the difference in color between "pewter" and "shade"? I love these pants--they are the best!!!

Heather

Hi Heather, The Pewter is a rich shade of gray. The Shade is more like a blue-gray. I think the best representation of the color would be the Van Courtland Blue/HC-145 paint color from Benjamin Moore. Thanks for contacting OR, Paul

Is the crotch gusseted? And if so, how big is the gusset? I.e. is it rectangular, or oval shaped?

LISL

Hi LISL, the Women's Ferrosi Pants do not feature a gusseted crotch. Cheers!

How does the drawstring cuff on the women's Ferrosi pant work or stay tight? Can the pant convert to a capri style with the drawstring cuff?

Kelly

There is a spring-loaded cord lock that maintains tension on the cord. You could cinch the drawcord and roll up the cuff for more of a capris style.
