in LOVE!

The bright red is absolutely stunning and I get compliments on its color and fit every single time I wear it. I bought a medium and can fit several layers underneath it but it's also just as warm when i wear it flush against my skin when it's freezing out. It's fairly puffy but I figured it would be with the high quality goose fill in it. The hood is soft lined and big enough to wear a beanie or ponytail under it. The pockets are great although I wish there was a zipper pocket in the inside. The jacket has waterproofing seaming so it helps cut down on the amount of feathers that come out. My only complaint is the transparent material of the jacket because you can see the dark feathers inside and people always think something is on my jacket like a stain or dirt but it's just the feathers. It's kind of weird once you start to notice it but the jacket is so cute and colorful that I don't mind.

Definitely waterproof and warm

I have used this jacket in all PNW seasons for a year now (based on the description, mine might be less warm than this year's, since they added more down). I bring it along with me even during summer because restaurants and stores crank up the A/C during these months, and I run very cold. I wore this in a downpour along the Oregon coast and stayed warm and dry. The jacket never lost its loft, and the velcroe wrist straps really help keep the water from traveling up your arm (I HATE THAT!). I also wear it around town during the shoulder seasons over my normal day-to-day clothes, and during winter with midweight baselayers and my normal clothes. I usually don't need much more than that. I do ultralight backpacking, so unfortunately this jacket does not go with me on my summer and shoulder season trips; it's too heavy. It's fantastic for camping though! Just don't sit too close to the fire, because I've heard the smoke can destroy the waterproofness of material. Not sure if that actually applies to this jacket, but I'm always careful. I also wear it on my winter snowshoe backpacking trips as my shell when the temps are below 20(o)F. To avoid sweating (and thus freezing) the down from the inside, I wear my heavyweight base layers and a thin vapor barrier liner jacket underneath this jacket. I don't usually sweat much below 20(o)F though, so it's not a big deal. Anything warmer and I would not advise using this for high exertion activities. Maybe if it had a pit zip? The inside pockets are super roomy, and the breast pocket is perfect for my iPhone 6s and wallet (I imagine it would fit a plus phone just fine, as it is also roomy). The hand pockets are high up, which is nice if you're wearing a backpack or harness, and they are super soft and warm. The brim on the hood is useful when it's raining. The only thing I would be cautious with when wearing this jacket in the rain is to not get any water on the inside, as I do not think that this material is waterproof. I'm pretty sure the down will lose its loft (and warmth) if water is introduced from the inside.

The is my new favorite. Its SUPER light weight, keeps me dry in the rain, and has been perfect for snowboarding and snow-shoeing. I can't say enough about how comfortable it is. They really did a great job on the design!! I bought the red one. It makes me happy with my jeans every day in the rain too :) I'm usually a small to medium fit, and the small fits with plenty of room in this one.

Best coat ever & in cute colors too!

I have been using this jacket for over a year. I climb, ski, snowboard, hike and spend a lot of time outside with my dog. This is my favorite jacket. I especially like it for skiing and riding as it's WARM and light! I've worn it in all conditions and not gotten wet. Washington state mountains aren't exactly dry... It has a generous fit and I can layer without feeling constricted. Also - OR makes this in really cute girl colors and that is admittedly what first drew me to this jacket. I have a lot of OR gear, which never disappoints, but this one is my go-to.

The Enemy of Cold and Wet

I bought this jacket last winter, when I was biking downhill to work in sleet regularly. What an amazing coat. I have worn it in the field too, on days when I anticipated standing still in cold weather, and sometimes found myself too warm. If you live in a part of the country where winters are getting more icy than snowy, or if you ski downhill, this jacket is for you.
The only complaint is that the outer layer allows for seeing the feathers through it, and that gives the impression it is flimsy. However, I assure you it is not.

Warm and Dry

Remember the days when you had those jackets with the waterproof outer layer and a zip in/out inner fleece for warmth? Kind of miss those? I do too! Except I donメt miss how complicated or heavy they are. Meet the Floodlight. Itメs 800 fill down and super warm with a waterproof outer layer. AND still very light! Given how puffy it is, itメs not the most packable insulation layer, but it will keep your warm and dry on those cold fall and winter days where the rain/sleet blows sideways. Keep in mind that this jacket is WARM, so itメs not the best layer for uphill pursuits unless youメre in a REALLY cold climate. However, it performs great as a one-layer-to-do-it-all when youメre only going downhill, snowmobiling, walking around town, or just spending a lot of time outdoors in the coldest months.
