RATING AND REVIEWS

Did buy this again!

Bought this last year as my outer layer for my first Adirondack high peaks winter hike. Love it! Protects from wind and light rain. I wear it all winter over layers without feeling bulky.

Reliable and light jacket

For a quick grab jacket, the Helium II works perfectly. However, there are no hand pockets to keep your hands warm in it like most jackets but okay for that minimalistic look. It's lightweight. It has a high collar to keep your mouth and chin warm when needed. I love the color!

Absolutely LOVE!!!

This jacket arrived 3 days before an epic trail run that was drenched in the rain! The fit was perfect, I stayed dry underneathe, and it was super comfortable. As with other reviews I've seen, there aren't really any vents in the jacket, so I did get a little sweaty under, but never got too hot or cold at all despite running up and down hills, wind, rain, etc. So other than missing some little vents, the jacket couldn't have been more perfect.

Great fit- keeps me dry

5

Great fit- I bought a large so I could wear this over other jackets and layers if needed. It fits great over my big chest- I can still breathe lol. Hood can cinch down to keep the rain out of the nooks and crannies. Super lightweight and packable. I use it as a wind jacket as well as rain.

Waterproof, lightweight, great layer

For everyday life, I used to primarily wear a soft shell jacket that was water resistant. On rainy days, I just dodged the raindrops or got soaked. Now I wear a puffy and when the weather turns, I layer up with my Helium II which is tiny and always tucked in my go-bag. When in the field, it is the best, last layer to add for a windy or wet day. For the final day of a Lower Salmon to Snake raft trip, I always have my Hellium II on when we leave camp to cut the wind and hold back the splashes. It is a great jacket.

Best Ultralight Rainjacket for Everything

Perfect for trail running - it's nearly as light as the Patagonia Houdini, but has the benefit of actually being waterproof. It's my go-to jacket for backpacking and fastpacking/ultras because of how insanely light and packable it is. I also always keep it my pack while bike commuting around soggy/steamy Atlanta. Even in pouring rain while riding a bike it has kept my top bone-dry and it breathes great. Basically the only thing I don't use it for is mountaineering, where I use a thicker, more durable shell. I'm 5'7" and 145lbs. The medium fits perfectly, although potentially a bit short on my longer-than-average torso. But that's negligible. Highly recommend this one!

The creme de le creme of ultralight backpacking jackets

5

This jacket is everything I have ever wanted in a UL jacket. Under 5.5 ounces (for an XS), waterproof, packs incredibly small, and cute enough to wear off-trail, too. As a petite lady, I often struggle to find outdoor gear that fits my short arms and legs but this jacket was spot on in fit. The sleeves end exactly where I need them too and the torso is not overly bulky. Props to OR for making such a solid piece of gear! I anticipate hanging on to this jacket for a long, long time. The biggest downside, in my opinion, is the lack of pockets. I'll deal with it for the weight savings, but I've found myself trying to stuff my hands into invisible pockets on more than one occasion...
