Love the jacket, but hate that its losing it's feather fill.

The feathers inside keep coming out of the jacket. You would think it would only happen on the seams, but it has been happening all over the jacket. It doesn't look great to have little feathers sticking out of the jacket all the time and if you aren't wearing a layer underneath they are pretty itchy. But other than that the jacket is great. It is super light weight but crazy warm at the same time and is a much needed layer as an outdoor professional. Which is why I have yet to send it back to the manufacturer to take care of the feather problem but I probably will need to in the near future before it loses all of it's fill...

So light, soft and comfortable - and looks great!

I had my last down jacket (a North Face Nupse) for over ten years, but always wished it had a hood... I went into the shop and just tried ALL the hooded down jackets and this was the best fit, so so so soft and comfy, warm bit not bulky (I don't mind a bit of puff, but it's also nice to be a bit more streamlined. The trimmer fit and slightly longer length compared to other jackets was also a deal maker. Love love love this jacket. Didn't want a black one (blue lining and logo), but it was the only colour in the shop and it looked so good I had to have it!

Great jacket according to my wife.

My wife responded to your request for a review.

yes if Outdoor Research gets some earthy colors

I really wanted this jacket but the colors are so child like. I have been waiting for earthy colors and was hoping this dark blue would be nice but instead it reminded me of a Childs coat especially with the bright pink. Will try again next year and hope for better colors. Gave it a 3 star do to colors.

Didn't Fit Well :( and really wanted it to

I've never had a fit issue with jackets before and I have multiple other garments from Outdoor Research that fit just fine. The sleeves were too big and long, but the waist was too tight. If it fit, everything else about this jacket would have been great!

Nice jacket

I was a little hesitant to buy this jacket because A) lots of people complained about it oozing feathers and B) I wasn't sure if it hit the right combo of warmth and weight/packability. Verdict is still out on B, because it's only just getting cold in CO, but for a summer of backpacking, hiking, and camping in the mountains, it's been perfect for chilly nights and windy summits! It's cute for chilly nights in town, too, and the fit & cut is fantastic. I'm 5'1", 110 lbs, and the XS fits well. (OR does a good job with consistent sizing for tops - I am an XS in all technical and lifestyle tops/jackets that I've worn)

Nice coat but.......

Had to order XL because your trim fit L is too small for me. The XL fits but the sleeves are very long. Also wish it had a 2 way zipper. Thinking about returning it.

I miss OR's old collar style

I had an over 10-year-old OR down jacket with an amazing hood, and tried to find a replacement with the same style hood and couldn't---not by any manufacturer! I ended up buying this and it's OK but I miss that hood. It had a separate set of flaps that could be velcroed across the face for insanely good wind protection. Wore that jacket on many windy peaks and even just at the bus stop on frigid winter mornings I would wrap that hood collar around my face for protection. That jacket was well loved for 10+ years and lost a lot of down and the zipper eventually gave out but I wish I could have replaced it exactly as it was, with no design modifications. Please bring back the old hood, OR, with that super practical wraparound face collar!

Comfortable jacket

5'5 and 135 lbs and a M fit perfect.

Pretty ideal

I went cross country skiing and snow shoeing in Montana in below freezing temperatures. I rocked some smart wool layers and the sonata jacket and I was surprisingly great! Super light weight and fits very well. I'm 4"11 123 weight and I bought a small. It's a great jacket for working out and moving fast and if you get to warm it packs down inside your inner pocket! Love it!
