RATING AND REVIEWS

Disappointing Down

1

The jacket is stylish and fits well. However, the seams are not staggered so, the wind will go straight through. As advertised as one of OR's heavier jackets, it is more suited for non-northern winters. It would be a medium-light weight jacket for an Edmontonian, who typically backcountry skies and camps in Alberta and British Columbia.

Great jacket so far, sleeves way too long

4

I've only had this jacket about a week, but I've been able to wear it several times and get outside hiking in it in just above freezing temps. This jacket fits great for the most part (I am 5'2, 34D, 125 for reference and ordered a medium) and has room for a layer or two beneath. The jacket is a little snug around the hips and the sleeves are WAY too long for me. I'm short and have short arms, so I'm used to sleeves being too long, but these sleeves are at least 6+ inches too long. I am considering having the sleeves shortened by a local tailor because I love the rest of the jacket so much. I LOVE the fleece-lined hand pockets and fleece-lining around the neck. The weight of the jacket is great for me as I run cold all the time. I would not call this jacket windproof at all, but I was warm while hiking (almost too warm) and still warm when sitting still.

Love!!

Love this coat, it does run small so ordered a large (5'10, 155) and fits great!! The sleeve are nice and long. Haven't been able to test it in the Wisconsin winters yet, but I think it going to work perfectly when that weather comes. Highly recommend.

So warm and cozy

Love this warm jacket. I have a few insulated layering pieces, which are great when under a hardshell, but not warm enough on their own. I really wanted a very warm jacket for every day wear and for really cold ski days. I'm 5'3 about 130lb and could have gone with a small for shorter sleeves and more fitted look. I chose the medium knowing that I like to wear bullky sweaters and may even bring it ski touring and throw it on over other clothes during transitions. Overall love this jacket and the turquoise color.

Sonata

I tried the Sonata Down jacket and wished the length of the sleeves of the Sonata Ultra Down were similar. Granted, I'm 5'2" and a petite woman, so someone taller likely wouldn't have a similar opinion. Ended up getting the Sonata Ultra for its warmth. The length of the jacket was also a little longer than needed. But again, likely because I'm petite. I also envy the variety of colors available in the Sonata Down. LOVE the dark violet colors and had to opt for the black for the Sonata Ultra. It's nice having a variety of dark colors available since I don't expect to dry clean my puffy very often. Dirt and camp food goodies are a bummer on your light colored jacket.

Great Jacket!

I'm in love with this jacket. I love the hood. I love that the sleeves are long enough for my hands to hid in. I love that it's fitted and I don't feel like a puffy, boxy monster. I'm a little concerned that as I took it out of the box, I could already see a down feather coming out. I just did the 5-day Inca Trail with Andean Treks Inc with it and it was perfect-perfect-perfect, though I did see several more down feathers sneak out. This isn't too big a deal but I generally have my down jackets for 7 years so I'd like to see a little improvement there. Thank you!

Great Jacket

I use this product when it's snowing and very cold out. Zippers work well, the jacket is extremely warm. The ripstop has worked thus far- I don't have any leaks or rips. It compresses super small to be a warm layer to throw on at the top of a ski tour. Definitely fully functional warm puffy. It's great for travel as well as it's so light and compressible. Plus at night around town when it's dumping I throw the Sonata on all the time.

Loved the Sonata so much that I bought the Sonata Ultra for those extra cold days. Despite being the same size as the Sonata, the Ultra is a bit longer in both the torso and sleeve and fits fairly slim through the hips. Overall great jacket, fits well and is very warm.
