Connecting Community, Supporting Local Artists, and Celebrating Our Love of the Outdoors
Outdoor Research is partnering with nonprofit Urban ArtWorks to connect the joy of the outdoors with our shared Seattle community, beginning with a beautification project on our own HQ building. Artists from Urban ArtWorks and volunteers from our neighbors at Miir and evo will come together to paint a mural that connects outdoor sports with the vibrant colors, shapes, and people that reflect the Pacific Northwest experience.
Urban ArtWorks has long been connected to community projects in the SoDo neighborhood of Seattle where Outdoor Research is headquartered, providing apprenticeship, mentoring, and school-based programs for at-risk youth. By working together, we're able to celebrate local artists while supporting the important programming they provide for our neighbors, friends, and family.

Damon Brown (Creative Lou) draws inspiration from a diverse range of influences, from comic books and Disney to classical art, using color, shape, story and texture to create vivid art for people to feel and see. Damon’s experience and connection with the Seattle community and outdoor athletes, combined with his artistic expertise, made him a perfect fit for our HQ mural project.
Urban ArtWorks’ mission is to engage youth and communities in the creation of public art that inspires connections and honors their voices. They envision a world where all people have access to the transformative power of creating public art.
