Raised in the industrial plains of southwest Michigan, Glen grew up catching turtles, snakes, and other animals that tested his mother's infinite patience. A competitive Muay Thai Kickboxing career in college brought him to the far-flung reaches of Asia and kindled his love of international travel. Travel brought Glen to Alaska, where he worked as an alpine guide each summer, and to New Zealand where he earned a masters in park, recreation and tourism management. Since then Glen has lived in four countries and had the opportunity to guide in North and South America, Southeast and Central Asia, and the South Pacific. Glen currently lives in Washington State where he is the climbing program director for
Miyar Adventures, an alpine guide company based in Redmond, that specializes in local and international guided trips and instruction for small groups.
