Earlier this summer, we were thrilled to announce that Outdoor Research has doubled our U.S. manufacturing to more than 200 jobs with a second onshore factory located in El Monte, California. In fact, our president Michelle Wardian was just interviewed by SGB to talk about what this means (like our role in Made in the USA, and more). Today, we wanted to highlight some of the faces behind our factory by sharing our new employees stories, backgrounds, and lives within and outside of Outdoor Research. Jamson Ning, Bundle Runner What is your favorite thing about working at the new OR factory? To chat with the persons and get other ideas. What do you enjoy doing on your free time? Going to the countryside and going to a Chinese restaurant and try other country's foods. Especially Vietnamese foods. Cristina Sanchez, Machine Operator Seamseal How is OR different than other places you have worked? Que aqui estoy apiendiendo cosas nuevas ay gente joven con ideas frescas y que le dan oportunidad a la gente de que aprenda. That here I am learning new things. Here there are young (leaders) with fresh ideas that create opportunities for the workers to learn. How have your skills been recognized, challenged, and/or rewarded since working at OR? Me an dicha que ago bien mi trabajo y toman encuenta mis opiniones. They have told me that I do good work and they actually take my opinions into account. Ricardo Dimas, Cutter Where did you work before Outdoor Research? I work before in BCBG Martina group. How have your skills been recognized, challenged, and/or rewarded since working at OR? The challenge still continues as the factory is new. The satisfactions I believe will come later. Joanne Ly, Machine Operator Cycle Machine How is OR different than other places you have worked? There is a new environment and better benefits. How have your skills been recognized, challenged, and/or rewarded since working at OR? Since working at OR, one of the challenges is working on the machine and have given me a new skill to learn. Emely Anaya, Sewing Supervisor What is your favorite thing about working at the new OR factory? Todo magusta: Ma motive cuando producimos, mas y cuando magoramos la calidad. Trabajar un equipo y Logran last matas. I like everything. I am motivated when we producing well, when we improve our quality, and work as a team to achieve our goals What do you enjoy doing on your free time? Salir a comar con la familia ha ir al parque. Go out to eat with my family and go to the park.
